Comments (19)DH-Worked hard to provide for us and appreciated the fact that I was a SAHM. He was very very involved in the kids activities and spent a lot of quality kid time with them as well as sharing care-giving duties from day one. He is generous to a fault. He can do laundry, clean the bathroom and repair or build just about anything. He cannot cook however so he is banned from the kitchen except to nuke stuff.LOL DS- #1 is he is extremely kind to women. Girls always flocked to him. For a long while he appeared to have his own harem. LOL He absolutely adores his SO and is extremely protective of her without being the least bit controlling. He is a true believer in equal rights but chivalry is his middle name. He has my back. A real tough guy with a gentle nature. D(quite likely)SIL to be- He loves my DD and shows it in every way both large and small. A hard worker who wants a family to provide for and who doesn't have the materialist expectations of his generation. He has solid values and isn't afraid to fight and work hard for what he wants. As my DD puts it... he's a combination of her brother and the best qualities of the two other main loves of her life before him without the negative ones....See MoreWhat do you love best about your kitchen
Comments (51)Number 1...I love how my kitchen functions and how we can all be in the kitchen at once doing various things at the same time...it's become a favorite family gathering place! My DH & kids even seem to prefer watching the small TV in the kitchen to the larger one in the FR (of course, the fact that the kitchen is HD and the FR is not might also be a factor, but we're talking about a big difference in screen sizes!) When I started planning, it was for a better kitchen...but my real goal, subconsciously, was a kitchen that we could all enjoy working and gathering in. I didn't think about this consciously until I came here...thank you Sweeby! Other things... My prep sink b/c it makes my layout "perfect" in terms of workflow and zones. Trash pullout...I'm another one that absolutely hates a trash can under the sink or a bin/trashcan standing out in the open. My warming drawer b/c it's made dinner prep more relaxed, I no longer struggle to get everything done at the same time...if something's done early, no problem! Put it in the warming drawer...what a relief...no more cold veggies or rewarmed-up, now overcooked veggies while something else got cold while warming up the veggies...you get my drift, I'm sure! Drawers and finally, space for just about everything! Drawers fit so much and can be used in so many different ways w/no worries about things falling off and no getting on my hands & knees to access. Along with the drawers is the full-extension glides...no more scraping my knuckles trying to get to items in the back of the drawer. Soft-close is also nice (both drawers and doors), but as a "nice to have", not a "must"...full-extension is a "must", IMHO! My beloved cherry cabinets. I've always dreamed of cherry but never thought I'd actually have it! My speed-cook oven...I can now make baked potatoes & yams that taste baked, not microwaved, in about 20 minutes. I could go on, but I think I hit the highlights... For me it's only been two years, but I still look at my kitchen and sigh happily...and I still even occasionally do the "happy dance"!...See MoreNot your average hometown snapshots.....
Comments (17)To each, his own. I only like 'city' in small doses. I am always happy to leave light pollution behind. On Maui I can actually see the night sky -- along with the observatories located in the islands *because* there's so little light pollution. It's peaceful for the eyes as well as the ears. Our flights home are usually at night. I often see the string of lights outlining the west coast as we make landfall. Every year, the lights seem to have crept higher into the mountains. Inland, the land is dark until the inferno of lights that is Las Vegas. Through the mountains are small outposts here and there-- tiny clusters of light in mountain valleys, on farms and ranches, in small towns. There are people there, but the land is king. When our flight ends before dawn, Chicago sprawls ugly with its sodium vapor street lights. Lake Michigan is big and dark to help me pinpoint home. The NBC nightly news closes with an aerial shot of Manhattan. I am amazed that so many people would choose to live so close together on this tiny island, ever building higher. Fun for some, just not this 'one'....See Moretatts
