sabbath, what did you have?

Hi Irma, I had smoked redfish as an appetizer, butternut squash salad, and mushroom risotto for dinner. I have never had risotto and wanted to try it. I enjoyed the bread pudding soufflé. It was a great dinner. The food was very good, the service even better. The make you feel like a queen or king. I had always wanted to go, but the dress code held me up. I just didn’t feel like dressing up. Yesterday I was enjoying the Garden District in jeans and stopped in and asked if I could dine there and to my surprise they said yes. The jeans were very dark and very nice looking so maybe they didn’t realize I was in jeans.

sabbath, thanks.......it is wonderful that something you anticipated for so long met your expectations. I have never had risotto either.

The risotto was good. I am not comfortable making it at home as my level of cooking isn’t that high. The food was good, however, I have eaten at Oceana a hole in the wall in NOLA that to me is just as good. It’s the ambiance and service that takes Commander’s Palace over the top. You feel like you have gone back in time 100 years. They have at least 7 waiters in black tie that greet you as you walk into the dining room. The chef sends over a few treats quickly after you are seated. There was a table next to me that was round with seven people, when their entrees arrived they had seven of the wait staff all present their dinners at exactly the same time to each person. It was impressive. Some of the waiters kept one hand behind their back in a very formal pose. It was a great experience.

Scrolling down, I thought you had plated that! :) Some in the cooking forum plate that way, and I am a bit envious of the patience's and creativity required. I'm glad you had a great dining experience!

WOW, that was a pretty dinner presentation. I would have loved to eat there with you.
