I just started "Marine One" by John Huston. Just finished the sixth (and final) book of the Clifton Chronicles by Jeffrey Archer. It was outstanding!!! Every book was wonderful. I highly recommend this series!

I just finished (second time around) the third book in the Stephen King Gunslinger series, 'The Wastelands'. Fingers crossed that the library has 'Wizards and Glass' when I go tomorrow to turn the finished book in.

The Book Thief. I know, I'm behind. But it is good.

Currently reading the 23rd Stephanie Plum book by Evanovich as they're such a lot of fun. Next up are Underground Railroad and Light Between the Oceans. Finished Small Great Things and it was really good. I understand they're making a movie of it.

I'm reading "cold earth" by Ann Cleeves. I'm enjoying it. Just finished "the hideaway" by Lauren Denton. Two totally different books but both good books.

Not All Bastards Are From Vienna. Historical Fiction. WWI. Northern Italy.

My current reading is A strangeness in my mind by Orhan Pamuk. It takes place in Turkey and the main character is a young man who, for the first half of the novel, makes his living by by peddling yogurt and alcohol. I like the character very much.

Recently I finished Testament of youth, an autobiography by Vera Brittain. During the early 1900s, she had to struggle to convince her parents to allow her to attend university, whereas it was an automatic decision where her brother was concerned. She became a nurse during WW I and maintained a relationship with a close male friend and her brother, both of whom fought in the war. This was a very difficult time for her. A very good book.

Rob, I tried to read The book thief and couldn't get into it. It was so highly recommended that I thought I would try the audiobook version and this is what made me absolutely appreciate the novel.

Just last night I finished "The Snow Child" by Eowyn Ivey. Apparently a pulitizer prize finalist. I loved it! It is semi old Russian fairy tale and early 20th century Alaskan frontier survival story. It is a first novel by Ms. Ivey, and I love her writing. Sparse yet evocative. I cried when I finished it.

Still trying to slog through "A little Life" by Hanya Yanagihara. It's an 800 page tragedy about a group of 4 male friends. Mostly focused on Jude, who is a brilliant lawyer who was abused as a child by anyone who was supposed to care for him, and the ramifications of that abuse. Tough read, sad story.

Sleeper - I read A Little Life a few years ago on the recommendation of a book store employee and, although it is a troubling story to read, it is beautifully witten. I'm vey glad I read it.

I'm reading Liane Moriarity's Big Little Lies and Dawn Lee McKenna's Landfall, Book 4 in her Forgotten Coast Florida suspense series. I wish the first four books in the series had been written as a single book so that we could dispense with repetition of the backstory and descriptions. But I admire the way McKenna writes, and I love her characters.

Part of my appreciation is that it is a different narrator. It's a cool idea that gave my son and me a chance to really talk about "characters" in stories. Mostly, I weary of tired, trite plotlines. Good break from that.

Just finished "Maybe in Another Life" by Taylor Jenkins Reid (a good read) and now, as an animal lover, into James Herriot's "Dog Stories".

I just started a new audiobook today, which is how I get to "read" when I'm walking. This one is so amazing, reads like a novel, and hasn't even gotten to the main topic yet. I hope the rest of it is just as good. The whole book is 13 1/2 hours long and I've listened to 1 1/2 hours so far. The book is about an American woman who, together with her husband, invented the modern science of cryptology and solved many Nazi codes during WW II. She was brilliant in this field, according to the author, but her work was kept secret for a long time for security and other reasons. I look forward to hearing her whole story. The audiobook has 4.7 out of 5 stars on Audible.com. The woman who smashed codes : a true story of love, spies, and the unlikely heroine who outwitted America's enemies.

That's coming up next in my list - glad it's going to be a good one.

"I Let You Go" by Clare Mackintosh is recommended reading. It is emotional and hard to get into because it's the story of a five-year-old killed by a car. However, that's so true to life, isn't it? Has anyone read this and has an opinion?

I just recently finished "Bear Town" by Fredrik Backman, it's pretty good. He also wrote "A Man Called Ove", which I've also read. Personally, I like 'Bear Town' better. Now I'm about halfway through "Hungry Heart", by Jennifer Weiner. I'm really enjoying it, find it hard to put down at times.

I recently read "The Mountain Between Us", and agree with you, DRL. I've read a couple of Charles Martin's other books, too, and have found them also to be very VERY good! I wish our little library would get the rest of his books. And I've found everything I've read by Richard Paul Evans to be very good. I think I've read almost every book he's written, except the Michael Vey series.

"The Rooster Bar" by John Grisham. Really good so far. "Swabbed & Found" by Frank Billingsley. An adopted man's journey to discover his family tree. He is our local weather guy. As an adoptive mom it's interesting.
