When not full of junk (i.e. mail being sorted, calendar I have not found a place to hang, my kids leftover drinks and other breakfast detritus, registration forms for new appliances, tile samples, unfinished homework, toys) it will have either flowers or a green pottery bowl with fruit or veggies that aren't refrigerated (lately tomatoes.) If the flowers are nice enough (or large) they sit on the dining room table. I go for chaos, function or complete beauty. Or you might find one or both of our two new kittens running across the island (at 9 weeks they run across every surface in the house.) Yes, I could not help myself. It seems that many GW posts include adorable pet photos, particularly cats so I thought I would chip in :) The funny part is the kittens are so fast I have taken at least 20 photos since we adopted them and this was the first one that wasn't a blur. Any yes I wiped the island down after this stunt.

The ONLY table that will allow the back of a chair to come into contact with table top, is one with four legs at the corners or four legs under a round top.. Otherwise? The base would NOT SUPPORT the overhang, nor would the table be stable and safe, in oval, round, the real Saarinen or the RH..............or any other in that style for that matter. Crypton is fine, so is any solution dyed acrylic. Essentially any Sunbrella fabric. Any faux leather is equally wipe-able. I think you need to come to terms with the stage of life called children : ) It won't be your last table and chairs. The Room and Board above ? At least it's a quartz top. I know that Ashley isn't the greatest quality. We have never purchased from them before. But, as I mentioned, the table had the semi-rustic look I was going for. More importantly...the size of table I needed! I have looked all over the internet for something that would fit in my banquette space. I have a very expensive 10' antique mahogany dining table in my DR. I did not need another fine table for my breakfast area. Especially with grandchildren! I don't think a new table top would be necessary. Plus it would take months to get one. Here is a further away photo. You can't even see the white. Closer up, on this one end only, you can see the white in the seam. It's more prominent in the cracks of the extra table leaf. I will most likely never need use the leaf. The table would be too long for my space. Again, does anyone know what the white is and how I can clean or disguise it?
