Comments (23)Great to hear from you Patti! I've missed things being away. Hope your packing goes well. Too bad your there and I'm here...I had a ton of good boxes you could have had. Today was not a bad day at all. I had taco restaurant style chips with my salsa. It's all been added to my WW tracker for today. Again, I'm working on portion sizes to relearn, adjust habits. I enjoyed the salsa. DH said it was missing something. I agreed. Added some Tex Mex seasoning and he put hot taco sauce in his bowl (no thanks). I also could have put another clove of garlic in it - but garlic powder did the trick. Fun way to add fresh veggies to a meal that's for sure. Got some more wood down from the pile (fresh air), unloaded some more from the trailer - almost done with that job. We've given the trailer to our builder who can use it. It paid for itself and then some, got us through a tough time. Now its ready to go to a new owner who knows trailers and can give it the tlc it needs. Once that's gone it opens our back road/trail towards our friends across the field and our back 40. Getting outdoors everyday is imperative for my health. I don't want to be a hermit or get cabin fever. Routine is helpful too. I'll be glad when my routine switches from settling in to working on other things. But hey, we home finally! I feel like such a jerk, whining and kevetching about my "problems", when you are going through this. You're in my thoughts and prayers, and please accept my condolences. Where are you? I hope you're feeling better form that nasty fall! Well, It's quiet on the homefront. MIL showed up one morning ,and and a performed a sob-fest, and then borderlined yelled at me. In.My.Own.House. I apparently have a spine, and told her in no uncertain terms that I will not be spoken to int hat way in my own house, and if she could continue in an adult manner, then I would listen. She blamed everything on me, and blah, blah, blah. Same ol' story, different day. I think I am going tomorrow, just to be sickening sweet... Comments (39)Good morning! I've been up since way-too-early-for-me-usually. LOL I was invited to visit the Methodist church here in town, so I went to the 8:30 service, then attended my friend's Sunday school class. I felt right at home even though it's been 40 years since I last attended a Methodist service. Ironically enough, all the hymns today were old familiars to me! I enjoyed the women's Sunday school class, too. I'll definitely return next week if all goes well around here. McPeg, so glad to read that you're healing inside and out. I think it's natural to remember things about your mom. My mom passed away almost 9 years ago, and there are times when I feel like it was just the other month. Memories are sometimes painful, but mostly, they're cozy and comforting. Patti, sounds like you had another good crafting weekend! I need to pack my bag with my tools for this afternoon's card-making class. I'm so looking forward to going, learning new techniques, and making new friends. This making-new-friends business is really growing on me, and I'm very thankful. Internet friends have always been so special to me, but it's nice to have RL friends, too. Today is the beginning of 2+ weeks of keeping grandchildren. (until the 15th of July) Aubrie and I are going to have such good bonding time together, something we've never really had before now. (Alexis comes to stay beginning next Sunday.) Today at church, I was introduced to the nursery lady in case I decide to take Aubrie with me next week, just for a change of pace. She may miss being around other children, so it's nice to know I have that option. QOD: Is there an area in your life that you would like to unload to help you with your goal? I think forgiving is a tough one for me to let go. I did great being around my xh and his wife at my son's wedding last fall, but it wasn't easy. We're supposed to have lunch with them next Sunday, and a tiny part of me felt angst when I heard about it, I have to admit. I am trying to grow up finally at age 60, but there's this small child in me who feels that until someone says "I'm sorry", it's not official. Silly, I know, but there it is! I have let go of much of my past resentments since moving here, and coincidentally or not, my desire to lose weight began around the same time. Maybe that Peter Walsh book, "Does this clutter make my butt look fat?" really pegged it. Sending restful, peaceful Sunday wishes to everyone. Comments (40)I'm back and will chime in on the concert discussions. :) Of course! lol. Summer before last, we attended 4 concerts. That aside, at Kenny Loggins, everyone just pic-nic'd, sitting down and then upon the last song, we all got up and danced through that one and an encore of 3 or 4 songs. We were happy and left with a good feeling. Then The Eagles, where everyone danced in their seats and everyone got to see. We left that one happy too. I guess I don't have to say that at Olivia Newton John, no one had to ask, "Have you never been mellow?", because it was a intimate evening of good song and conversation with her. People stayed in their seats. Then comes Fleetwood Mac- WHOA! - it started out with great music, very tight sound, and everyone dancing in their seats. A couple of gals kind of diagonally in front of us got loopy and started dancing, and the people next to us were visibly upset. They were sitting in their seats and wanted to see the performance. DH and I said nothing, but many people were vocal about it. She finally sat down under protest. The last few songs, eveyone got up and danced and then, so did she, which was fine. Here's my opinion: Everyone pays their money to see the performers and see the live music happen. I don't want to look at someone's bobbing head or shaking tush, but on the other hand, I'm not going to make a big deal out of it either. Some choose to. I want to see the artists playing. I agree with the 'when in Rome', if EVERYONE or at least a large majority decides to dance, it's okay to dance. But, if you want to dance at a concert, move to the aisle, move to the upper back row areas or balcony, or trade seats with someone in a section that's groovin'. Raeanne, truthfully, I think if your girlfriend would have danced in her seat, instead of making a stand, she would have had a good time (maybe not fantastic), she'd have gotten to see the ENTIRE concert, she wouldn't have been hassled, and everyone would have gotten their money's worth and saw what they paid for and came to see- Bette Midler. But if that's the hill she wanted to choose to die on, then she made her choice. You are so right when you say she's an adult and can make her own choices. Unless your friend was loaded and needed assistance making decisions, I think you did the right thing. She made a choice and she faced the consequences. I think when we add in the entitlement factor, we face another issue. Yes, she is allowed to do anything except stand in her seat. And when people protest, she is allowed to talk with management. Maybe they told her something that made her cry, but they deal with this all the time, so they may have asked her to be reasonable to the rest of her seating section. The people behind her are entitled (with their purchase of the ticket) to a clear view of the performer and to enjoy the show. Concert security normally lets the seated part of the crowd police itself. Disruptions are ruled by the majority. Concert security decided to intervene in this one--who knows why?, but she *was* causing a stir. IMHO, she could have sat down, danced in her seat, and she wouldn't have missed anything but a little exercise. Everyone would have gotten their ticket's worth. I can feel for both sides, really.
