I like Penneys and their sales are pretty good. I have bought quite a few clothes from them, and especially clothes for the grandkids.

Where did you find $9 sheets?? I went right away and searched but didn't find any kind of good sale. Last year I did get 2 sets for a bargain price that I don't remember but by the time they came the sale was over.

Penney's is trying to avoid the rocks, closing stores all over the country. I'm wearing a $45/$20 on sale robe I bought online last week -- laundered OK -- will have to see how it holds up.

I had to send back two sizes of a $72/$40 on sale robe I ordered from Macy's. The 'small' was easily a 'medium', and the 'extra small' was OK in the shoulders, but as wide as the first one in the body -- bulky under the arms, and I'm a 36" bust. (I would never have paid $72 for that robe even if it fit!)

Last month I bought two nice cotton knit sweaters for $9.60 apiece from Carson's (a Bon Ton store).

I wonder how much the person who made these garments was paid if a store can still make a profit selling a $45 sweater for nine dollars, rather than wholesale it to a TJ Maxx.

I'm Happy- I copied the info I had, I bought two sets so that is why it shows $18. Elizabeth, I will be cautious laundering. Maybe MP can give me some advice.

We just lost our JCP. I had been a pretty loyal and consistent JCP shopper for DECADES. At 17 my second job was in a men's department and I stuck with the company all through college. It was my first credit card. I found their sizing to be accurate enough I could order from their catalog and the items always fit. Not true anywhere else. They were always a great place for the basics.

Penney has not recovered from one VP's gambit of 'fair pricing'. This also failed when a car maker tried it.

Customers stayed away -- in droves -- when there was one 'fair retail price', without discounts or coupons. This altruistic idea is not compatible with human nature.

Marketing 101 tells a seller to set a 'value'. The customer registers that 'value', and sees 'a deal' when it item is offered for less. The $72 robe I ordered from Macy's wasn't worth the $40 they were asking 'on sale'. They never really expected to sell many of these robes at $72. That was just the 'sticker price'.

Penney and the car maker said they could offer goods for less if they didn't have to play these discount/coupon/whatever games. They forgot that their customers want the (imaginary) savings of playing games.

Love Penneys ! I wandered through the bathing suit area recently and seen the "perfect" dress in black and white! It was marked down to $7. I guess it is supposed to be a suit cover-up but I wear it as a dress and paired with a shrug or blazer with heels, etc. It can be dressed up.

Thanks for the link Raven. Unfortunately the queen size was sold out by the time I tried to order. I have been thinking about trying the fleece sheets this winter and that was a great price.

I'm a JCP addict...they keep sending me $10 off $10 coupons & rewards.

The sale prices are FANTASTIC!!!!!
