Transition between new tile and old in older home

We replaced hardwoods with porcelain plank wood looking tiles in our front living room and dining room. The dining room is the front corner of our home and we know that it is our lowest point. The dining rooms meets the kitchen at a doorway where we have older 18" ceramic tiles. I'm not very happy with the height difference between the new tile and the old, and the transition makes it even higher. We think it may be due to the float being higher in that side due to that being the lower side of the house. I'm hoping there is a way that we can reduce this height difference without tearing up the tile and trimming down the float and reinstalling tile.

Any thoughts are very much appreciated. I've attached pictures as well.
