library bookcase wall--go all the way or leave a space at ends?

I'm filling a wall with 4 or 5 bookcases, corner to corner. Ceilings are 8 ft., bookcases are 86" high. Width of bookcases...TBD. The wall is about 14'9" wide. I'll use 12" deep cases on the ends to accommodate light switches on one end (and to be symmetrical on the other) and 17" deep bookcases in the middle. The bookcases have closed storage on the bottom if that matters.

Should I leave space at the sides of the bookcase array or fit them in snugly, going to the absolute corners? It feels like 8" on each end is a good amount of space and doesn't look accidental, but that is also 16" of useful storage in a small house with piles of books all over.

These are NOT built in bookcases and not really required to look built in. Just bookcases. Probably this, which is inexpensive and available in custom widths:

Too many options! So please advise: 8" between the end of bookcase run and the wall, or (almost) zero? Or something else?

Thanks!
