I have no idea what colors will look dated, but I like the colors in your photos. They go together well. In my monitor, the color on the tile website looks a pinky beige that does not match as well with your granite and not at all with your accent tile. I am going to assume that the real color is somewhere in between the two. It sounds like you will have a nice, clean look. I like that you have porcelain that looks like stone, and not real stone. It is harder than simple ceramic and will not have the voids that stone can have. I have always wondered if those spaces hold water and grow moldy. I remember reading on another thread that there is a way of telling how many different patterns there are with the tiles - so that you do not have the same tile patterns showing up constantly and reminding you of the fact that it is man-made and not a natural stone. I don't remember the name of the measure, but it ranges from 1 (low amount of variation) to 4 (highest variation). Does anybody know the name?

I rember wanting to change my kitchen and one of my baths first thing after moving in. In retrospect I am so glad the funds were not than available for after living with them for a year I was really able to see what worked and what did not and I ended up doing things a lot better than they would have been done in the first few months. I avoided costly mistakes by waiting. I did instantly strip wall paper and change paint colors in all my rooms and that helped me live happily for over a year before than fixing things that still did not work for us. clean and refreshed make it more your own by changing colors and adding some art for now and really figure out what does not work function wise for a year or so than begin the expensive tear out redo work. congrats on your new digs!

Lisa just a word of caution. Glass tile in a wet area has many risks. Don't assume your installer is qualified for glass installations. Special setting techniques are needed. Get the installation instructions directly from the manufacturer and make sure it's followed. Most require special mortar while some require mastic which can't be used in a wet area. Some glass can be installed over a impervious waterproof membrane while others no. Some Ok with epoxy grout others not. Be sure the glass can withstand the thermal shock from being cold to being hit with hot water. Research glass tile ghosting. Best of luck with your project.

It depends on so many things! The size of the closet is the first consideration. Is there room? Are you putting in a dryer, too? If yes, do you have an exterior wall for the exhaust? It looks like it is on an inside wall to me. If you are not putting in a dryer, how do the clothes get dry? If it is a gas dryer, where do you run the gas line? If it is electric, do you have two spaces open on the electric panel for a 240 line, and where will you run the electric for both machines? How about drain lines? Where will they run? can you put in a floor drain and a pan below the washer in case of a blown hose or other leak, or are you going to take the chance to flood through the downstairs ceiling if you spring a leak?
