After seeing the cabinets I thought I want I'm disappointed.
Comments (5)There is little, if any, difference between Medallion and Schuler other than the names of the cabinet styles and finishes. Both cabinets are manufactured in the same facility, and both lines are often delivered on the same truck. There are extensive options for customizing regardless of which you purchase. When we did our kitchen, we used both Medallion's and Schuler's spec sheets. We found nothing in the Medallion line that we couldn't get from Lowes in the Schuler line. At the time, Lowes gave us a much better price than either of the two local Medallion dealers. As far as the finish, Medallion/Schuler has one of the best for cabinets in their price range. I'm not sure what you mean by "patina" and the "feel" of wood, but perhaps you might look at some species other than oak, and some other finishes....See MoreMedallion/Schuler painted cabinets
Comments (17)Marcy, I also went back and forth whether to get stained or painted cabinets. DH wanted stained, I wanted painted. I got Medallion Brookville Divinity color cabinets in my new kitchen a year ago. I am very happy with the Divinity painted finished. I almost got the glazing, but I didn't. Although I really liked the glazing, along with the other "extra" finishes that Medallion offers, I was afraid that they would looked outdated too soon. JMHO I've attached some photos of my kitchen if you're interested. The appliances are bisque and I think they look really nice with the Divinity color. In the future, when my appliances go "bust", I'll replace them with ss. Good luck in whatever you choose! Comments (5)My feeling is that if you have enough space in your plan for a 36" range AND your house/kitchen is on the upscale side, that is what you should put there. I don't meet either one of those criteria, so my 30" is fine. If your kitchen does, then a 36" range is pretty much expected. The thing with remodeling from new floor plans and cabs on up is, you need to think about future use. Future persons will expect a 36" range in pretty much the same way granite/quartz/soapstone is expected in some kitchens while laminate is fine in others. In any case, I do think a 40" hood would look disproportionate over a 30" range. If you stay with 30", then I would look at other hood options besides the wood one in your cabinet line. I've seen some killer hoods that would look terrific in many kitchens (except maybe that "Tuscan" one ;-)....See MoreBacksplash done! Kitchen almost finished! Pics
Comments (29)Hi Helene, my kitchen is only 11' 4" wide, so I couldn't fit in an island. I kept the peninsula for the added workspace and storage, but removed the larger overhang and stools that we used to have. That gave me more room on the table side for a larger table. I also added the wood hutch piece for more counter space and storage to make up for not having an island. I struggled with where to put the microwave as I didn't want to put it over the range. I decided to put it in an upper microwave cabinet to the right side of the refrigerator. That's the one cabinet I had to have replaced which is why I don't have a picture of it. The microwave that I bought is the GE Spacemaker that you can use countertop or hang under a 12" cabinet. I'm putting it on a shelf. Once the cabinet is installed I'll post pictures of it. Good luck with your kitchen!...See More- 6 years ago
