Basement floorplan layout help please! Home Theater Info
Comments (9)Put all your specs into this: http://www.carltonbale.com/home-theater/home-theater-calculator/ It will help with seating distances and such based on your screen size. Ours is 12 wide by 15 long, drywall to drywall. 144 inches wide is just enough for a bank of 4 chairs on our rear, elevated seating, just one step up. The front is a bank of three, creating a small "aisle" on each side. We have a 100" screen (diagonal) which is basically a 4x8 screen. Keep in mind, that neither of your designs allow for a raised second row. For two rows, you either need to elevate the second row, or elevate the screen, which can look odd. In your first plan, can you swap the bottom bedroom with the home theater, extending towards the pool table where the couch is? Then the door into the HT can be on the extended wall by the closet and the closet can be made larger for that bedroom. From the grid in your pics, you could get about 12x21 without impeding on the pool table, and narrowing the closet slightly (while making it longer). You should be able to get all of your seating (and dry bar) in there with raised levels going back. Brian...See Moreneed help with hooking speakers to TV

Comments (6)For anyone getting a screen, I highly recommend you ordering samples from a couple of manufacturers. My original plan, based off of info gleaned from the AVS Forum was to go with a Carada Brilliant White screen. Then I got the samples and everyone in my family, me included, realized that the BW looked just like the primed (Kilz White Primer) wall that I was projecting on while trying to figure out a screen size that suited our viewing room. Then the Dalite samples arrived. A booklet with about a dozen different screen samples. Still, with a new bulb burning bright in the projector, it wasn't until recently that I finally bought a 133" Dalite High Power for a little over $500. The DaLite High Power is awesome. Mostly due to the advantage of the screen being able to shed ambient light due to its retro-reflective nature. That's a plus for having a light or two on when company is over watching the Patriots or Red Sox beat up on the other teams in their respective leagues. A little ambient light goes s along way towards preventing someone from accidentally dipping their fist in a bowl of dip. No regrets. So...try a few free screen samples and see what worlk best for you. Not all screens work well in all rooms, nor with all projector/screen setups. Mongo...See MoreHow to Conceal Home Theater Speakers?
Comments (21)Sometimes I feel it is kinda like a TV in the room....why bother trying to hide it? It is what it is - it is part of life especially if men are in the house. There are so many things I would do differently if my DH weren't in this house but he is so I have a very masculine den ~ makes him happy. He doesn't ask for much and puts up with me!! LOL He considers his speakers works of art - I wanted to have an ET designed to hide his speakers (I did atleast get the 24"cube subwoofer hidden) but he wouldn't hear of it. He also likes to see his components. Perhaps a box built around the speakers with speaker cloth or metal grill painted the same color as the walls? The sub could go in a basket or you could put it under a table or something. Smiles:)...See MoreSync Systems
