Water proofing a printed paper

I want to print something from my printer on an ordinary printing paper, glue this paper on a plastic or wooden board and then spray it with some transparent material so that rain can't damage the printing. I also want it to be sun proof so that prolonged sun exposure will not fade the printing. thanks

There are sprays available, do you have a question, or are you letting us know what you are doing?

No I am not telling anything , I am asking which spray I can use to make printed paper waterproof. I want to post an ad outside. or perhaps water proof papers is another option, what is the best option. thanks

I don't use laser printed paper in my compost or garden. We have done experiments where we soak the printed paper in water for a few days. The letters don't dissolve or change in any way, so they seemed plastic-y to us or somehow melted onto the paper. Not like newsprint which basically rubs or melts off. So whatever is in the ink seems creepy and not what I want in my garden. Plus paper is actually something that is easy to recycle where I live, I just drive it down the street about a mile. So although I have massive lasagna beds and many compost bins, I recycle my paper. I have plenty of leaves, wood chips, etc. to use as browns. Marcia

Vapor & water proofing a steam shower - does this sound right?

To educate yourself, I suggest you Google something like "how to waterproof a steam shower." When I entered that, one of the FIRST things I read was not to use tar paper but to use a product like Kerdi, Laticrete, Noble, etc. and there are knock offs of these products as well. Even if he does what he says, from what I understand, there should still be a water proofing membrane under the tile. There are even YouTube videoes of the process, and, of course, plenty of information here in the archives - easier to access through Google than through the search feature here. No, photos are not acid-free. They are bathed in devoloper, then stop bath, then fixative, before being rinsed in water to "neutralize" those chemicals. When professional photographers develop their own pics they are much more neutral, but things run through high-speed developing machines are not- the chemicals can be old or dirty. That's why photos degrade so quickly. You see a noticeable color change in even 20 years. However, keeping them in a neutral environment will help slow down their degradation so they last longer. I was considering silicone. I have a couple of things out on the table, ready to test them. Was not sure if it would work on paper, though. Obviously if something I have already in the house works, I will get these done that much faster. That Perfect Paper sounds good, though.

I do not know of a spray to make paper waterproof, there are sprays to make paper moisture resistant. Waterproofing paper is difficult. Clear contact paper maybe more water resistant than sprays. There are clear contact papers with uv available.

Your local hardware store, that sells spray paint should be able to help you, if you want a moisture resistant uv spray. Krylon is a brand available is the US. If you know how to use Google, search for "moisture uv resistant spray".

If you want to place/post an ad outdoors in the weather I recommend using "paper" designed for that purpose. That paper is a speciality item, I suggest contacting your local printer. In the US, there are businesses that print advertisements for outside use. If you have a local backpacking store, ask if they sell things to make topo (topography) maps water resistant. Additionally, an office supply store sells sleeves that may work.
