Brown Paper Toweling/Elmer's Glue/Fine Seed
Comments (37)Angela, I gave you a really long answer on this, but I don't see it (or your question) here. Either it's gone, or we have the wrong thread. Anyway, the tutorial link is below. I had great luck and almost perfect germination with Imperator and Chantenay varieties. Not so good with Rainbow Blend, which also didn't do well with traditional sowing. Either 1" or 2" spacing works. I use 1" and pull every other one for fresh baby carrots. Curt Grow, I hope those Bounty towels disintegrate easily. The cheaper ones actually work better, and toilet tissue or cheap paper napkins work the best for me. Comments (6)Floorguy, I called BR-111 today and they told me to NOT use the Titebond III wood glue since the drying time was too long. They told me to use the Titebond II wood glue for floating or their newer version that they now like better called Titebond Tongue & Groove Glue. I have the specs in front of me and I like the lower calculated VOC (5.5 g/L) of the Titebond II since the Titebond Tongue & Groove Glue has a calculated VOC (less water) 13.7 g/L. Why does one say "less water" and the other type does not say this? But I like that the Tongue & Groove goes on white and dries tanslucent verses the II version goes on as a honey cream color and dries Translucent yellow. The Tongue & Groove glue is a Cross-linking polyaliphatic emulsion with a 2 year shelf life while the II version is a Cross-linking polyvinyl acetate with a 1 year shelf life. On the BR-111 site, it recommends the Titebond II Wood glue for floating or equivalent it says but during the phone call, I was told the website will be updated with Titebond's newer formulation, the Tongue & Groove Wood glue and they like it a little better. Both are only water resistant and have a fast dry time. Which should I buy? The place where I am buying my wood floor from and my underlayment has a different glue so I am going to go locally to find my glue....See MoreHow To Remove Painted Over Wall Paper Paste / Glue
Comments (1)I think you are misunderstanding the purpose of Gardz. It is not meant to 'fill' anything. In fact, it is a very loose bodied product...almost has the consistency of water. What the Gardz does is keep the paste from screwing up your latex topcoats. If you painted over paste, the paste will eventually cause the paint to crackle away. The Gardz will keep that paste locked down so it cannot affect your topcoats. In your case, the best solution is sanding followed by skimcoat where necessary. Steaming will do nothing because the paste is already painted over I would use an orbital sander and yes it will be dusty and messy but it's fast. You could hand sand but this method will take forever. You could also do no sanding and the skimcoat over the rough surface but I think buzzing it down with an orbital is your best route....See MoreCork flooring - how water-resistant is it?
Comments (1)I don't think it's ideal for a bathroom application, where it will invite puddles on a daily basis. But that being said, were you to use cork in a bathroom, I would think glue-down tiles would be far superior to the laminated planks. The planks, if water seeps between, would certainly be ruined. The glue-down tiles are solid cork....See Morelinnea56 (zone 5b Chicago)
