Monarchs!

I know for many of you seeing Monarch butterflies is not all that unusual, but for me it is a big deal!

My yard must not be on their flight plan because if I see one every 3 or 4 years I consider myself lucky.

Today I looked out the window and was shocked to see about TEN Monarchs happily drifting from flower to flower. They all looked very fresh and not travel worn in the least. These three flowers seemed to be their favorites:

Fireworks gomphrena ...

Bougainvilleas ...

Blue porterweeds ...

I wonder if they possess the kind of genetic memory that will lead their progeny here next year. Probably not, but I can dream ...
