Comments (64)Dear Blogg, On the topical subject of washing lines, I put a brand new one up 30 metres (although I only used about 10 metres) and pegs for about two pounds English moneyquite cheap too!... about three weeks ago anyway since the day I put it up the weather has been atrocious. Up to then it had been sunny for a few weeks and having got the electricity bill..ouch! ...so cut down on the drier we all decided .like teenagers ingest vast amounts of electricity? .to return the issue.since that notable day the washing line has only worked periodically I would say 3 times out of ten at the most... weve even taken it down and changed the polarity!!...with little differenceits colour is by purple the way!!!.... .I AM SERIOUSLY THINKING OF TAKING IT BACK AS BEING FAULTY!... .Furthermore nowhere to be seen on the outer wrapping was any mention or warning of its dislike of unfavourable weather!!!...This could be a case for the Trades and Description Act! the line could be sulking perhaps missing home as its likely to be made in china! .an alternative theory is: Ive had a digital satellite dish put on the wall near to on end of the line and this could be draining energyweve definitely got excellent picture quality on the TV!! oh by the way...day job is being boss of my establishment and hence I am last port of all in the line management structure!!!...I thought I had some management skills but alas this has tested my limitations!!! .would love to hear from anyone who may able to shed further light on the matter or think of any other possible causes or simply have a view on the subject??? who was the first linesman/woman??????...See MoreAlong the lines of loom potholders~~
Comments (19)It was such a big exciting event when the new BIG Sears catalog arrived! We would have entertainment for weeks just going through them page by page. We also got Montgomery Wards and a few others but the big Sears one was the best. Mom would try to copy some of the clothes she made for us from the latest styles in the catalog. Another game we played was pick up sticks, I still have my set somewhere. We raised a lot of sheep on the farm so there was a lot of knitting going on, but I never really liked it. Mom was great at French Knots, made some beautiful stuff. I did some of that but never like mom did. I wish I still had some of her work but I donâÂÂt know what happened to it. Wow memories are coming back, that made me think of the amazingly beautiful ribbon embroidery she did too. She gave me all of her tools for me to learn but I never did, maybe I should try it, not sure these poor old hands could manage it. I am now going to be looking for where on Earth I put her stuff. Comments (3)Thanks josephine. That's a great idea. I can update this thread in the Spring with a new picture provided it survives the winter here. But if it was a shared one, I think it probably stands a better chance....See More- 6 years ago
