(My son also has two Aussies that are too smart for their own good. They've learned it's easy as pie to open the doors themselves!) Yep..us Aussies are quick to catch on...............We really dislike being penned up/locked in.........chained up is even worse.....or...shudder...crated!.....:( OK, enough of that...:).....Lever for this older ....Aussie.

I like the last one. Just texted son and told him to start looking. It would be handy for him to be able to do some stuff from his phone like change codes or get alerts when keyboard is used. Unfortunately the few of those I looked at didn't review well. So, probably something like the above will do. A local gal from Riviera Beach booked the townhome for two bachelorette nights before her wedding. She left a sundress. Son left a key under the mat for her to come and pick it up. A few hours before, husband and I where there to install a new dishwasher. We have a picture that we took for son of dishwasher installed just before we left. On the counter in picture is the extra black key (our key is silver). After gal left she put the one key back under mat but the black key on counter is gone. It's nowhere in the house but there was no one but her in after us. So, locks need changing right away.

All our interior door hardware matches. Many of the exterior doors match the interior handles. The front door has a more ornate lockset. There are also a bunch of Anderson patio doors and those have a "compatible" but not attempted to be the same lockset on them. Wherever possible we have brushed nickel on the interior and a darker bronze on the exterior, though that's not always possible (some locksets you can't mix and match so you have to pick one). You do the best you can, but as long as you're not mixing ultra modern design satin nickel with polished brass victorian, things will work out...

For older door sets the two knobs and the shaft connecting them are separate pieces. You can buy any combination of knobs that fit on each end of the shaft. The length of the shaft is adjustable to work with different doors and locks because you screw on the knob assembly until its up to the trim, and then tighten the lock screw to hold it in place. I have modified new locksets to use the old knobs, and its not a perfect union. New sets usually have a square opening in the center so that you can insert the new square shaft, but its sometimes a loose fit. If its a loose enough fit that the knob turns several degrees before the lock mechanism starts to move, it doesn't really feel right, but it works fine. Bruce
