First thing's first- you have insurance on your house, right? Your belongings can be replaced- a family member you cannot. I just bought my first house, which was built in '73. It too has two exterior doors that had the keyed lock on it. Due to being a fire saftey hazard (and a new city code violation), I changed out the locks. So each door has one dead bolt, and the knobs have the little turn buttons. One thing that I did differently on the changeout was to install the jam striker plates with screws long enough to go into the actual framing joist (I used 3" screws), not just the door dam facial board. Theives these days are just kicking in the doors for access as it's not that hard to break out the half inch thick facial board. It's a lot harder to break out the framing joist. On a side note, if you can find a security system sticker to put in the window...

Thanks Patricia, I know I love that the room is surrounded by windows. I love this room. We added wrap around built in bookcases and window bench. This room is more like our family/library/office/movie room. So much right?! I like the bamboo blinds because they will give the room a needed natural color as right now it is all black and white. We have a projector but right now we are only watching a movie at night as there is too much light coming in during the day. I want the lightness of the bamboo but with the option of complete blackness during the day.

Really nice house. Yard already has the beginnings of curb appeal with the bricked path. If you don't use a front yard patio, don't keep one. While having a door open toward the side of the house doesn't seem ideal, the reasons this was done are obvious: -- the door is facing the driveway on that side of the house and, more importantly, -- it enables the house to have (not just the one) two large forward facing window groupings. Unless you're willing to give up all the natural light the second window grouping brings into the home, the door would need to stay where it is. If you're considering changing the front windows on the left side of the house anyway, you could enclose what is now the porch to create a new, one with the door forward facing in the new front exterior wall. You could then add a new porch by extending the roof of the forward facing gable another 8' or so.

They do try to say it is cosmetic when you first contact them. Enamel chipping is glass shards and one poster here was injured plus who wants that blowing around with the convection fan. Wolf does try to blame the consumer. “ You must have put something on it.” Me -No, I followed the instructions given perfectly. Some Wolf ovens have failed without using self clean, but even if you did use it, it is an advertised feature, included in the instruction manual that you paid for. I have heard of dealers advising not to use self clean. I’ve had several inexpensive ovens that self cleaned with no issues. As far as how you use your oven, it would seem that you would be about as well off with gas as a fuel. Gas ovens tend to brown better so would be good for cookies and roasting. The only thing that gas might not be as good would be cakes. If you have recipes that work with gas already than, that might work well too. You would miss some of the control you have with some electric ovens, like direction of heat or is there some other feature? You did not mention anything about burners or griddles. There used to be a poster here that had DCS maybe about the same age as Bruce’s. Just because they do that 95% of the time, doesn’t mean you should. I would independently educate yourself about all of these issues. People who are selling, are often motivated by commissions and bonuses. Adequate ventilation can be very expensive and if you lose a sale because someone can’t or doesn’t want to pay for ventilation well, you can see the motivation.
