I would just enjoy for now:). These get big and grow fast, I'm sure you've noticed. You will have to prune it eventually if kept inside;). Your little friend will hit the ceiling. I'm not sure if these guys can be propagated by cuttings, but keep the pruned piece and see if you can root it:).

You could prune now if you want to keep it short and branching. Depends how you want the plant to look. Do you want a tall trunk and branching, or a short trunk and branching:)?

I would like to keep it tall and branching, but more important, I want it to branch more than the one I pruned 6 months ago, which didn't go well.. (see pic.) Only 1 branch!

Offcourse no-one can give any guarantees that it won't do the same, but maybe there is something I can do to encourage more branching, etc timing and where to prune. Or maybe Pachypodiums are likely to branch like this ?

Is it more likely to branch a lot when pruned higher than lower ?

I really don't know the answer how to get more branching. I would just think it just depends on the plant.

This may sound stupid, but I wonder if you cut a little sliver on the opposite side of the new growth near where you already made your first cut. If that would stimulate the plant to grow on that side. I really don't know, but maybe;).

I'd say cut lower and give it more intense light for better branching. Try some artifical light...
