Help me pick out paint for my living room!
Comments (4)I have a fireplace and carpeting a lot like yours and I painted the room SW Latte and I like it very much. I have a beige couch and burgundy leather chairs and olive green accents. They all blend well together. If your room doesn't get a lot of light, then the next lighter color might work - Nomadic Desert. Other possibilities I envision would be a gold beige like SW Blonde. It would also blend with the rug and look nice with the brick, I think. Or a neutral green like SW Grassland or Svelte Sage. If you want a gold with more punch, try SW Golden Fleece or a green with more punch, SW Wheat Grass or Rye Grass. Just depends on whether you like walls to be neutral background shades or whether you want them to make a statement....See MoreHelp me pick art for my living room + dining room!
Comments (10)No, I don't think it would look awful. I love big art pieces. The important thing though is do YOU like it? It's your home and it's important that it please YOU. Looking at your picture, I'm wondering if the art above the sofa isn't a tad big for that wall. (I really like it, btw.) Usually, the eye appreciates some breathing room around art. If you have painter's tape, try taping out that canvas' size above your couch and see just how much wall it covers. That might help you visualize its negative space better. Good luck and enjoy the process!...See MoreLong and narrow living room, need help picking and arranging furniture
Comments (8)One idea might be to add a very short wall on the left as you enter the living room so the opening to the living room is the same width as the entry ... and, by doing that you could put wall to wall built ins on that end of the living area, with or without a tv, and still create two separate sitting areas. I don't understand the "bar" against the solid wall behind the pantry and refrigerator. If you changed the pantry to a "butler's pantry" with a pass thru window, that would have made more sense. Is your "bar" a cabinet something built in? Have you considered either closing or narrowing the door between dining and living room and/or creating your pass thru bar there with your piano in the adjoining corner adjacent to the fireplace near the dining room wall? https://www.decorpad.com/search/butler-pantry-pass-through...See MoreHelp Designing/Picking Furniture for Small Open Concept Living Room
Comments (0)My husband and I just moved into a new home, and are trying to design our living room. The current furniture in the photos is from our apartment, and we plan to move it upstairs to the game room. Our challenge: finding furniture that fits the space that we can relax on, but is not as casual as the current deep sofa (lounge ii from Crate & Barrel w/ double chaise). My husband and I both lounge when we watch TV and relax at night and we plan to use this room as our primary TV room. The Lounge ii is heavenly, but is not good for conversation or for having people over to socialize. We want to have enough space to lounge but also seat 4-6 people comfortably if we have guests over. Room dimensions: The distance from blue back wall to end of the current sectional is 134 inches. It looks like we could potentially push it back to 140 inches and still have enough walkway between the end of the sofa and the bar stools The distance from the window wall to the start of the hall way is: 168 inches Right now sofa has 17 inches of space between the window and the start of the sofa. The end of the sofa sits 140 inches away from the window wall. Questions: What type of TV stand/media center and what color will look best in this space? I really like the big media centers that are about 88 inches tall and take up most of the wall width, but I am concerned that having a big media center may make the room look smaller, but also think that the current style TV stand looks awkwardly small in the room. What seating arrangement would work best for the space that will allow us to lounge on it, but will also be good for having guests over? We were leaning towards an L shaped sectional like the Pearce Roll Arm 3-piece L-Shaped Wedge Sectional from Pottery Barn, but once I measured it out I am worried it will make the space looked cramped (121 inch x 121 inc). We are planning to go with a white or an off white sofa but I am open to suggestions. What style/size coffee table will look best in this space? The current coffee table we have feels too large....See MoreMrs. S
