Help Designing/Picking Furniture for Small Open Concept Living Room

My husband and I just moved into a new home, and are trying to design our living room. The current furniture in the photos is from our apartment, and we plan to move it upstairs to the game room.

Our challenge: finding furniture that fits the space that we can relax on, but is not as casual as the current deep sofa (lounge ii from Crate & Barrel w/ double chaise). My husband and I both lounge when we watch TV and relax at night and we plan to use this room as our primary TV room. The Lounge ii is heavenly, but is not good for conversation or for having people over to socialize. We want to have enough space to lounge but also seat 4-6 people comfortably if we have guests over.

Room dimensions:

The distance from blue back wall to end of the current sectional is 134 inches. It looks like we could potentially push it back to 140 inches and still have enough walkway between the end of the sofa and the bar stools
The distance from the window wall to the start of the hall way is: 168 inches
Right now sofa has 17 inches of space between the window and the start of the sofa. The end of the sofa sits 140 inches away from the window wall.

Questions:

What type of TV stand/media center and what color will look best in this space? I really like the big media centers that are about 88 inches tall and take up most of the wall width, but I am concerned that having a big media center may make the room look smaller, but also think that the current style TV stand looks awkwardly small in the room.
What seating arrangement would work best for the space that will allow us to lounge on it, but will also be good for having guests over? We were leaning towards an L shaped sectional like the Pearce Roll Arm 3-piece L-Shaped Wedge Sectional from Pottery Barn, but once I measured it out I am worried it will make the space looked cramped (121 inch x 121 inc). We are planning to go with a white or an off white sofa but I am open to suggestions.
What style/size coffee table will look best in this space? The current coffee table we have feels too large.

Here is my first thought... Think about the floral chairs. You mentioned that you use tablecloths quite a bit. The floral pattern may limit using a pattered tablecloth - unless it's a stripe fabric. Something to consider... But I do like the chairs. I'm not crazy about using all upholstery, as in your second photo. Did you not like the silver tub chair from World Market? The only reason why I say this is because of the white chairs and white cabinet. If one is a brighter white, it may not look right. The metal is more like a neutral. Also - it looks like you have more red accents in your kitchen - the solid upholstered chair is more rust. Here is another patterned chair with more red tones: Also - when your guy makes the table, make sure he gives you enough overhang on each end (short ends) so you can get two chairs there if you want. As it appears now, you would be limited to one chair, sitting between the legs. Congratulations on your new home. Don't purchase anything until you've moved in and lived there for a bit. That will help you evaluate how you use the rooms. I, too, would want to get rid of the blue walls. Go with a neutral color such as: Edgecomb gray is a beautiful earthy gray with beige undertones. Ballet white is the perfect color if you want to go super neutral without going completely white. Balboa mist is a very soft and neutral gray. I would also try the TV on the wall where the console table is in the picture. It looks like the FP is too high for a TV.

Wall Color: While I can't speak to the colors you specifically listed, I think gray would look great. Ideally in something about the same darkness as the current wall color. Furniture Layout: Your current layout looks great. Coffee Table: I'd go with something glass, delicate and a little glam. It's a small space with several upholstered items and I think the current ottoman is too "heavy" visually. Without knowing the dimensions of your sofa I can't say what that would be. Here are a couple of ideas for rugs. esalerugs light blue new vintage rug esalerugs light blue new vintage rug Decor: For window treatments, I think some full length touching the floor drapes in a luxurious material like silk would work well. I am a big fan of white or ivory but a medium gray could work well too. Pottery Barn Dupioni silk drapes I also think you need a lamp or two in the room. They add a lot of drama and style to a room. I don't think you need anything between the refrigerator furniture-wise. You could do a taller cabinet, but I'd avoid anything that becomes a clutter collector. I think you need more art on the other walls. Everything is currently concentrated in just the gallery wall.

Hi @Allyson Jones, please consider the following arrangement of furnishings. This is meant to give you a lot of flexibility, more seating options for gatherings with family or friends. The carpet would need to be rotated one quarter turn every so many months so it wears out evenly given that you have traffic to the guests quarters. Do not be fret over empty walls. Empty space is very importance. Add only things that matter to you, that bring you joy, that tell the history of your family. Avoid home goods stores, all those cute items go out of style quickly. Keep only two of the stools. Endeavor to use the dining room table more. It is important for a family to turn off the tv and focus on each other. Use this plan to measure how the sofa unit should fit in the space. Use a glass coffee table to keep the space visually lighter. The chair in the corner can be a funky statement piece, either by its shape or color. If you do place a chair there, replace the light fixture currently in that corner with a floor low-wattage canister light on a timer, so it automatically turns on at night, and off a few hours after you go to sleep. Such lights, on the corner of a room, produce a very warm and inviting effect. I hope this helps.
