electrolux vs frigidaire all refridgerator/all freezer units

We are considering the Side by Side all refrigerator/all freezer units for our kitchen remodel. Why did you choose one over the other? Have you had any issues with them? I see a lot of reviews - mostly older about noise issues from the freezers.

Stay far away from Electrolux, I bought Fridge, Induction Slide In range, Speed Oven - all produced around 10/2010, purchased inn12/2010, put into service around 3/2011

All have either failed in part or completely. Induction cooktop is shot, the speed over is one popcorn bag from going on fire and the fridge has holes melted inside over the interior lights from the incandescent bulbs, ice build up every 3-4 days on bottom of freezer bottom and all types of trim cracks, failures and more.

This evening my wife and I went shopping for 3 new appliances to replace the Electrosux (except for a dishwasher - the Bosch we bought in 2010 is running great)

While checking out a Viking Refrigerator I shocked it was my same unit, the one with the very same incandescent light bulb that melted our fridges interior.

I looked online and it looks like AGA is using the same Electrolux model for their line. So a 2010 model is being sold for top dollar in 2017 and the price has increased just because if the new brand name

My mom purchased the Frigidaire twins in the early 2000s. They are still going strong. She had a seal on the fridge get bent out of whack but the repair guy told her how to re-train it and it's been fine. Her set is very basic on the interior and it didn't come with drawers. She reused the one from her broken fridge.

I bought the Electrolux Icon all-fridge 7-ish years ago. Someone spilled something sticky and left it, which tore the seal at the bottom. I don't have any complaints about cooling and I love how much fresh food space there is. Mine has LED lights so no worries about heat from bulbs.

Cleaning is a pain if you like them to look smudge-less. Except for wiping off obvious crusties, I wait to give it a beauty treatment until I have guests ;)

For what it's worth, we've had more problems with Frigidaire refrigerators in the last two years than with all other appliances combined. Their ranges and microwaves are good products, but their reefers and dishwashers are very poor quality. Years ago, when they were part of GM, they were an awesome product. Too many people still remember (or still have) those products. It's not the same today. I have to agree. We have a Kenmore upright freezer whose insulation shrank, sucking the interior sides with it. As a result, a couple of the shelves fell down. We traced the Sears part number to Gibson, which is owned by Electrolux and apparently assigned to their Frigidaire group. After being burned on that freezer, we won't buy anything made by Electrolux.

Save your money. I installed them in 2016 and the refrigerator died from an unserviceable refrigerant line in 2019. Incredibly poor quality. Keep looking and you'll see my same situation has happened countless times. If you are fortunate it happens during the 1 year warranty. I replaced them with 2 Samsung freezer on tops. The Frigidaire freezer whose refrigerator brother died is so loud I can't hear the 2 Samsung at all. The Frigidaire Professional combo was easily the worst purchase I've ever made...$4200 wasted.

We were able to find the Frigidaire All freezer/frig combo in stock and on display at a appliance store about 70 miles from us - we drove up, took a look at them, and bought them. They are in storage right now, so I have no idea how they will work once installed, but we were impressed with them enough to buy them. Comparing the specs of the Elextrolux, and seeing what looked like more reported problems with them, we were happy to go with the "lower end" Frigidaire. Time will tell if we were right! The other plus is the Enegry Star rating, and the ice maker (we didn't want a water dispenser)...The ice maker is the simple type in the top corner and takes up little space. The best is the price for how much space you gain.

Did not get to see the Electrolux icon model. Looked at both the fridgidaire and Electrolux models. They did not yet have the professional handles on the the fridgidaire model when I was looking at them. The bins on the Electrolux were nicer and glided better. Was going to go with the fridgidaire as it was at a better price point but when my appliance dealer came across the Electrolux pair for $3400 I grabbed them. The only drawback of them is the fridge doesn't even have a water dispenser inside the unit. That is the only thing I wish it had.
