? about mantle decor
Comments (6)I don't know if you're trying to attach decorations to the front edge, top edge or underneath edge of your wood mantle. Can a person easily see the top of the mantle? If not, then maybe a tiny nail at the back (against the wall) would be okay. You could attach a fishing line or small wire to the nail and then to the decoration. If you can't use a tiny nail, then instead maybe a very heavy piece of metal (i.e., 1/4" x 2" wide flat bar, or piece of lead). A piece of rubber underneath the metal would give it more "grip" and prevent it from slipping forward. Maybe the decorations could be attached/hung from a piece of wire that was stetched across the face of the mantle and attached to the wall at both sides? What about strategicaly placed tiny eye hooks screwed to the underside of the mantle? Or just two eye hooks, one at each end, with a wire between? Later you could fill the tiny hole with a furniture repair wax stick, or leave it for next year. This all sounds kind of crazy and hopefully others out there will have better ideas....See MoreHelp deciding on mantle decor
Comments (24)Wonderful! LOVE the dish in the center! For the right-hand planter -- place a small plastic container upside-down in it -- that will boost up the plant to the right height for the size of the container. Try switching the two books -- place the blue book on the bottom of the stack. For a future easy change -- you could just remove the right-hand planter. Move the dish over to the side -- and simply place a small plant -- maybe an tiny potted herb like oregano that loves long trailing branches in the dish. Another change for the warmer summer months -- switch to white candles! Fresh look and easy too. Jan at Rosemary Cottage...See MoreMantel Greenery & Decs: Suggestions/Opinions Needed
Comments (17)Oceanna: thank you! One of my very favorite cousins lives up near you. She's in Tacoma. I need to get up to that part of the country someday soon. It looks beautiful and so green there!!! Natal, yes it is a gourd pot! I have 3 or 4 different ones and really admire the work and creativity the artists put into them. New Mexico is a mecca for artists of all kinds, especially around here where I live. Wonderful, original art can be had for such great prices out here. Cam, you made me laugh, as I did just that when I first got it! BTW, I bought it at Walmart out in their Garden area for (I think) $6. Comments (20)According to what I see in the picture, you have great taste but the room needs help. I would start off by pulling the couch off the wall and placing it's so it's in between the door and the window. Then the chair could go in between the couch and media center. In the middle of that sort of conversation area put a coffee table with some decorative coasters and a small plant. Then, add some throw pillows and curtains ( make sure they go up to the ceiling and touch the floor for the illusion of height). In the corner a blanket basket or a tall plant would be a nice touch to the room. Then on the wall where your couch currently is, get a sideboard and dress it up with two matching tall lamps on both sides. Over top of that either make a gallery wall or one large piece of art. In the corner where your chair is near place another tall plant or vase. Make sure you have a nice matching color palette while buying decor and furniture. I hope this helped you and good luck :)...See MoreRelated Professionals
