Advice for traveling with a dog

We are recently retired - me with serious health conditions that are resolving. Want to leave New England for 2-3 months this winter. We have a sweet 6-year-old Australian Shepherd who just this year developed a major seizure disorder. She is on 2 different anticonvulsants, both "controlled substances". The Rx's can only be dispensed one month at a time.

Soooo - that rules out the south of France. I would never crate her and put her through the stress of flying.

We have an itinerary planned - to Naples, FL to visit DH's sister and up the Florida peninsula visiting family and friends in January then 2 weeks in "dog friendly rentals" in St. Augustine, Savannah and Charleston.

She's chipped. I'm going to get a tag for her collar with DH's cell # and email address. I'm going to have her groomed just after New Year's. Also planning to review this itinerary with our vet.

Thoughts/experiences?

Kennel cough vaccine in case of emergency boarding

Documentation of her immunizations

One night dog friendly hotel stays on the road

How to arrange refills on her phenobarbital and the second drug.

Any answers/experiences/cautions gratefully received.

Many thanks.
