Lighting Design Dilemma

Help with open floor plan lighting

Hi, I am still in the process of decorating our newly built house and would love to receive advice on lighting options for my living room. The only light I have changed so far is the dining one, I want something similar but am concerned it might look crowded visually and defeat the purpose of a big accent light. It is an open floor plan: kitchen has recessed led lighting (so we get tons of light), the dining fixture also has really bright light, although we seldom turn it on (lol) and the living room only has that (2 light) fixture (which I hate) you see on the photo and it really isn't enough lighting for the living room. I would love any ideas or suggestions, please forgive my backyard mess but it was raining hard that day. :) Thanks!

Try a floor lamp behind sectional, in the corner and a lamp on an end table beside the sectional first.

Thanks for the ideas! I am planning to put an end table beside the sofa's arm rest but I'm not sure of a lamp there, since the cable would be visible since the sofa is not resting on the wall. What type of lamp would you recommend for the corner?

For some reason I'm not getting replies sent to my email. Lots of great responses! I'm definitely planing cased opening and not paneled jambs. When we get slab poured and everything marked out I will mock up the furniture placement to decide on the casing to the right. All permits are in so hopefully this will be in the next month. Nini, I think your living room might be one I was admiring while we were planning. ;-) everyone seems to be doing fireplaces on interior walls so I've been nervous since we moved ours to the exterior wall. Hope it looks half as nice as third!!

That really leaves you with the current arrangement, replacing the grey chair by the front window with kid stuff and leaving the floating living space opposite the TV. I'd really look into rerouting cable so the TV can be where the large art piece is. It's not usually very expensive and will be necessary in order to keep your walkway from running right in front of the tv.

placed at the back corner of the sectional a large arcing lamp would tie in well with your modern chandelier. Many different styles in terms of shades from metal, to cloth shades, etc.
