Need help! Window treatment dilemma
Hey everyone,
Attached is a photo of our open concept living/dining room with ceiling height of 10 feet. We have always preferred hanging curtains at ceiling height. However, in this case, one wall of the dining room is angled. I want the whole space to look cohesive and I desperately need help from the experts to decide on dimensions for the window treatments!
Here are my dilemmas -
> Is it ok to hang curtains of living room at a different height than dining room? Should I go with 3 or 2 curtains for the living room windows?
> Is it better to have two separate rods in the dining room corner windows with 4 curtains?
Or
> Is it better to have two separate rods in the dining room corner windows with 2 curtains?
Or
> L shaped rod with 3 curtains?
Or
> Should we skip the curtains altogether in the dining room. And add just 3 curtains in the living room at ceiling height with bamboo shades on all windows?
All help / suggestions would be deeply appreciated!!

Comments (12)I would also look into different ceiling installation options because 118" will need at least a couple of middle supports if you installed on the sides.... 96" is a very manageable ht to diy! I have regular sized sliders (that are recessed about the same amount as yours except with a lot of molding around them) that I hung a tension like curtain rod on except it is mounted on both sides... I hung open weave linen sheers on them and almost always keep them pulled to cover just one half... anyway, I couldn't have used the center supports with this rod even if I wanted to because I have the rod hung tight near the top like you need to do-- in my case it works because I only have sheers hanging, so less wt and i don't close them too often, so very little tugging on the rod......See MoreBay window seat window treatment, need help please!
Comments (8)By cafe curtains, do you mean the tiered set? I'm just not sure what that means? I always think of kitchen curtains! How would I mount a curtain rod from the ceiling? I once had regular curtain rods before I put in the seat, but with the roller shades, there is no place to put the rod hooks. Comments (3)Vicki, I think a roman shade would look very nice! You could install it inside or you could hang it just below the crown molding on the cabinets. Depending on how much fabric you have and how much you want to spend, you could also make a mock roman shade that doesn't function.
