Rug too long for entryway. Help!

I am trying to make my entryway a little less utilitarian and more "inviting". I ordered this cute rug. I have emailed the seller about how to flatten it as it is creased and rumpled from shipping but it is also clearly not right size wise for my entryway and needs to be cut down some to fit. It is just woven cotton(?) with no backing so it shouldn't be too hard to cut down and bind the edges (not fond of fringe edges anyways). How should I fit this to my very tiny entryway so visually it looks the right size? I am 99.9999% sure no rug is just going to fit this space as-is. Oh and the step to the side of the door is at an angle. We live in a tiny economy condo, not an expansive mansion so the entry is tight and will never look like Houzz photos, but I do have plans for the shoe rack before anyone mentions it.
