For bedrooms, I always purchase bed linens first and then choose a wall color. My reasoning is there is a limited range of bed linens that I like where as there are millions of paint colors and I don't want to box myself in having to work with a wall color. I do like soft colors for guest rooms - something soothing and quiet, not bold so I do like your idea of a vanilla. For the laundry room, choose a color that you really love that shouts "fun" and "happy". Your other choices all sound really nice, quiet colors. Sky

Thank you for the response! Didn't get a notification from Houzz so just saw it. If I did an arch top opening, how would I do the rest of the hallway? I don't want to make it a barrel vault for the entire length of the hallway. Would it look too broken up if the hallway ceiling started flat and then have the arched top opening at the end right before the vestibule? What would the flat ceiling height and top of the arched openings be to work well with the 11' vestibule? The backup design would have been 10' flat ceiling in hallway opening to 11' flat ceiling in the vestibule. It's just too ho hum for me but I'm having a hard time visualizing the superior design.

9 ft is not a tall ceiling, its pretty standard. All those crystals will A cut the actual light down and B cause shadows, so if you have a dark hallway I would pick functional lights over pretty lights.

@Tai Ramos Beautiful bathroom. I too am going with classentino marble in palazzo white and now I know what my space is going to look like. What did you do for your backsplash? Having lived in this space for one year now would you recommend that? How easy is it to clean?
