Which maple tree (that turns red in fall) in a clay soil

Hi,

Our soil is mostly clay with a thin layer to topsoil.

We got rid of or cherry tree which was sick and are looking for a maple tree that would be green during summer and turning to red during fall.

We made some research on Internet and discovered that this topic can start a war...

At first we though about Acer freemanii Autumn Blaze, but some reviews said the branching wasn't that pretty...

We then saw Acer freemanii Autumn fantasy and loved the deep red color of its leaves during fall.

But.

We're lost.

- We can't plant a Silver maple and it looks like freemaniis are hybrid of silver maple and red maples? So what about its roots? Would it be the same issue as the silver?

- We have clay soil, so we need to choose a tree that won't have issues with it and won't develop surface roots as we will have a flowerbed around it.

- If we can find a maple tree with fast growth rate, that would be amazing.

We live near Montreal, and that would be a "5b" rustic zone which is (-26°C to -23°C / -15F to -9F during winter).
