Kitchen drawers with low sides
Comments (4)Yes, that's fairly common for base drawers now. I would go to your local big box store, get a piece of the plastic used for overhead fluorescent light panels and cut pieces to line the sides if it's a problem. ETA Or get a rack for your lids, since I'm guessing they're what slips out. There are many to choose from. Here's a random one: https://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/store/s/pots-and-pans-lid-organizer?ta=typeahead&ml=v2 You could be making much better use of the space in that drawer with a little organization. As it is, you might as well have a shallow drawer there. Use the airspace, like by getting dividers for your pots and pans, too, or racks that will hold them sideways....See Moreprotect edges of theroplastic kitchen drawers?

Comments (5)You don’t have room for that sideboard. You need a minimum of 36” around a table for peole to scoot past someone seated to reach their seat and occupy it. 48” is much better, and allows someone to not have to scoot sideways. Then you need an absolute minimum of 48” between the table and island for traffic with someone eith something in their hands, like a platter of hot roast beef. 60” is much better. There is far less risk of dumping the hot food down the back of someone’s neck to burn them. Your kitchen wall could be extended doen further towards the fridge to occupy some of that blank wasted space, and the whole kitchen could follow. That would give you more room for the eating area that you need...See Morekitchen drawer cabinets with no back panels
Comments (4)All my cabinets have full boxes regardless if they are cabinets or drawers. Over the years I've hired 2 different custom cabinet builders. One was recommended to me by a local designer. After he retired, the second one was recommended to me by my favorite painter. So try to find a local designer, a really good painter, or ask your neighbors for referrals. In both cases, I visited their shops. Neither one was in a personal garage or backyard! They were workshops with lots of equipment and projects in process, and they each showed me their building process, finished cabinetry, and furniture. I'd recommend that you visit the shops of whoever you are considering and have them show you everything they do from wood selection, to construction of the boxes, to door/drawer fronts, to what type/brand hinges and drawer glides, and anything else you can think of. Some cabinet builders sub-out the door/drawer fronts. If that's the case for the builders you talk to, then you'll want to see some examples of the fronts....See MoreKaryn Chung
