Uh Oh did I mess up?
Comments (14)Even if planted upside down, I bet that any existing shoot would find its way upward toward heat and light. My point was that the non-sprouters might either be slow starters, or not have any eyes to begin with, so you may be waiting on absolutely nothing. That's why I like to watch them before I plant them. It sounds like you got commercially produced pot roots Kat, with lots of (usually) broken 'fingers' hanging off a tight knot of smaller tubers clustered around an old cut off stem. I fell for a few packs of those at a big variety store and 2 of 3 clumps have yet to show any signs of growth. Sometimes you get all good tubers, it's just not very good quality control in those cases, in my opinion. And it's a shame the dahlia eager shopper might not know what to look for which are signs of growth: an eye or shoot already showing on the shelf in the store in either light green, pink or purple showing signs of life from the dull brown tuber. If you really wonder, I would do as Triple B said and unearth them, put them in light and barely damp soil with the crown/stem exposed and see if you do see growth in a few days. If you do, you can replant them with confidence. I have nothing against potroots, but those haggard, dried out, broken masses that are packed in bulk are often a lost cause and you're better off spending your $ on a solid dahlia vendor's tubers or potroots. Comments (25)I bake all the bread, rolls, etc that we consume in our home and that way I can better regulate what goes into them. I do eat some bread, but if I wish to drop the excess weight, then I have to be careful. Home baked bread is sooooo tempting, especially hot from the oven and with butter on the counter.. LOL I eat oatmeal with blueberries nearly every day. And I eat fish at least 2-3 times a week. I love sardines, so that can be a meal for me while hubster eats a burger with all the trimmings, french fries and washes it down with a huge glass of milk... then a generous serving of ice cream just before bed... and he is soooooooooooo painfully thin... Gahhhh.. but he is pretty healthy for 82 and that is a blessing.. I think incorporating walking is a huge differnce in how I lose the weight and tone my body.. and I am so completely addicted to walking especially here in these beautiful woods and country roads.. it is to me like paradise.. Trouble with me is that I will set out with the dogs and we will walk 3 or 4 miles out and I sort of tend to forget we gotta walk back that same amount.. More than once hubster has had to come and get me because it got dark out and I still wasn't back.. he worries because of my heart condition.. but I don't.. cuz I know he will come and get me.. Comments (22)Hi Karen, I agree completely and I can relate to your story too. I gained 30 or so pounds since meeting my DH, 15 of which are already back off... but I was never so grateful that he never NEVER mentioned it. He's happy I'm losing it and gives encouragement, but he always said it was me he wanted to be with, not my body. It was me who had the issue of being overweight. I think Straycat speaks for all women when she says... "...Whether she is fat, skinny, built like a brick house or a bowling ball-she hopes and she prays her husband shes the woman inside the skin and loves every inch of her inside and out. But, when he doesn't she slowly becomes more and more empty and that is when the numbness sets in. It's hard, very hard for that to ever be replaced with love, the trust just isn't there. When that happens it's hard for her to give herself-to the same man." "...You are still in the physical stage of a relationship after all these years. Too bad, and to think...you've been married to the SAME woman all these years and you have never SEEN HER. " "...If you'd seen her through the eyes of love how would she have looked?" WOW~WOW~WOW How many of us have felt invisible/are feeling invisible right now? That Straycat can speak so completely for me, with all of our differences in opinion, says a lot. I think this is one of the core truths. THIS is how a woman (or man) becomes empty. This is the hole through which the love pours to the ground. This is the echo never answered....See MoreUh-oh, I ordered more DA roses
Comments (11)Sharifa Asma So awesome lol. I have Sharifa that I got as a small band last year. It smells so good. Its a really pretty light pink here fades to white quickly in extreme heat but definitely worth growing. My Olivia is new last summer grafted and already trying to be a monster. Hasnt bloomed a ton yet but is pretty so far. My Young Lycidas is smaller than many of my other 3 yr old grafted Austins. Really pretty flowers. Gets a little black spot here. The branches are more substantial this year and right now it has about 8 buds on it. I am anxiously awaiting these to open. Its its biggest flush thus far. YL needs a few years to get going, I think. Abe Darby...probably everyone knows Im totally in love with this rose lol. I could go on all day about him. The only problem I have with him is that I only have one :p Strawberry Hill is on my list this year. Its so pretty! Abe Darby...See MoreUser
