We became parents for the first time. I knew I wanted at least one daughter. I had watched my aunt raise 3 boys and knew I'd miss out if I did not have a girl. So we had our girl first, and she has been a delight. She has our only grandsons. They are happy, well behaved young boys. I tell her that she and SIL are great parents to have such happy, cooperative boys.

Then we had two boys, and I relaxed because I'd already had my girl. My aunt had her girl time when her sons married. She loved taking her DILs shopping and to lunch.

Yea that was great, and totally unexpected. It's rare to experience a couple inches of thick wet snow this far south. Pretty much all the snow came down in a 1 hour window around 8:00 Thursday night, and stuck around til sunrise. The following year (2018) we had an early cold blast mid-November that lasted several days and did more damage than that snow day. The lawn turned yellow much earlier than usual but I was able to protect the plants and keep them going longer. Thank goodness for hi-tech weather forecasting, we know in advance what temps & winds to expect.

Happy Birthday to your daughter!!! And congrats to you! I'm from a family of 5 girls and still wanted a girl! She'll be 41 next month and it seems like just yesterday she was a precosious 2 year old.

Our DIL is the youngest of three girls. Both her sisters had girls. She -- and her mother -- were dumbfounded to have a boy. (I would have been amazed if the baby had been a girl; DS' birth family had *only* boys, including him.) DS and DIL did have their girl, but not until six years later. We are so lucky to have 'one of each' as grandchildren.
