Early Autumn? Birds...Migrating?

We're north of Chicago. Last week and this have been at least five degrees below normal, with highs of 71 and lows of 54.

Yesterday we had waves of starlings passing through, enough to fill our entire back yard, over and over. Thursday I saw songbirds feeding side by side: Blue jays, robins, chickadees, canaries, cardinals, wrens, and some I can't name. I don't recall ever seeing all of these together, in one place, at the same time.

Are these birds migrating? Are they fleeing hurricane damage? Forest fires?

I am not hearing geese.
