Favorite/Least Favorite Color Daylily?
Comments (32)I've always loved orange daylilies, and my first sight of PRIMAL SCREAM merely confirmed that love. Really like brown daylilies as well....and yellow, well, no need to say any more. Yellow daylilies are WONDERFUL! Mauve to me is probably not what mauve is to an artist or colorist. Naturally, no daylilies come to mind at the moment, but I've seen what I think of as mauve intros and have not cared for them. My recollection is of a palish, dirty purple-pinkish shade. Not that that's very helpful I'm sure! In fact, someone mentioned ALWAYS AFTERNOON, which is in fact a mauve. But I've seen it and have liked it well enough, and I've not thought of it as mauve. But EAGLE NEST is very much NOT mauve IMO! And Faye Shooter would probably agree with me, seeing as how she registered it as a "medium purple." :) All this as a way of saying that my new least favorite color is a dirty lavender-pink. :)))...See MoreFavorite Lavender Daylilies of the Season
Comments (37)Brad - Heartbeat of Heaven is new here, has gone through one winter, Regency Heights has been here many years, a real good one. Debra - Diviners Handbook is excellent, it is hardy, clumped up quickly, I have had it about five years. It was a single fan. It also has been moved once, in its third year. Sometimes the blooms did not open all the way initially. I gave a friend a single fan about three years ago and his clump is now larger than mine. His flowers have always opened just fine. When people visit him, they want Diviners Handbook, it is very showy in a clump, high bud count (see photo). Mine is still in quite a bit of shade, but opens fine now with maturity, my friend's plant is in open sun on a large hill. Almost everything I give him looks better there, lol. I live in the middle of a forest basically, and have alot of shade. My friend lives in open fields of farmland on top of a large hill. It makes a huge difference with alot of daylilies. I was told some time ago that Curt Hanson daylilies need the sun. It does appear to be the case with some of them....See MoreFavorite Pinks of the 2019 Season
Comments (107)Trying once more (out of many mores!) to get a couple on here. This is my favorite pink out of many in my garden. Rachelle Agin. Love it for its clear pure "pinkness" And, this is last year's photo. I have not uploaded all my pics from this year. But wanted to share this one!...See MoreFavorite Purples of the 2019 Season
Comments (148)Karen, here is another photo of Swallow Tail Kite to give you another view. It does indeed have an eye with a lot of 'blue' in it when I look at it in the garden but I can't comment on what it looks like elsewhere. I haven't seen it in anyone else's garden in person. But, you can't go wrong with it as a plant. It's tall, well-budded, hardy, and sets pods. I happen to count it among my top 10 daylilies for vigor and bloom production. What's not to love?...See Moreshive
