Dishwashers - top rack or no top rack
Comments (39)I envy all those nice photos of neatly (or not so neatly but still organized) 3rd racks filled with flatware! That would be so nice to 'unload'! DH loads, and stated he would never bother with putting the flatware in the slots, or dividing them into categories on a 3rd rack. Went with Dishwasher Drawers anyway, so it's a mute point for me as they use the cutlery baskets... I've got an old whirlpool now, cutlery basket, and my flatware comes out clean despite 'spooning' of flatware. I do think a 3rd rack would be wonderful...providing the 'dish loader' uses it!...See Moredishwasher not cleaning on bottom rack
Comments (9)If your upper rack is getting clean, I think that tells us the pump is working OK and the detergent and dosage is fine. I'd take another look at the lower wash-arm. From what you wrote I'm suspecting 1) arm not being pressurized 2) holes clogged 3) arm obstructed by some undiscovered object so that it isn't going around. You said you checked the arms for blockages and you also said some loads come out clean lower rack included....so something intermitting, I'm thinking....which is really annoying. Try this.....1) remove the the lower arm entirely. 2) run a rinse-and-drain cycle. If there's anything upstream of the entry-point into the arm, it will likely be blown out by water pressure from the pump. If you're courageous, you can open the door quickly and observe whether or not there's the remains of a fountain of water coming out of the opening. That will answer the supply question. Next, look at that removed arm very carefully one more time to verify that it is, in fact, completely clean and unobstructed. Shake it around a bit and listen for anything that may be loose in there. Replace the arm and verify that it is free to spin. Slide the bottom rack back in and verify full-circle spin with the rack in place. Run another rinse-and-drain cycle and yank the door open quickly to see whether or not the arm is, in fact, spinning on its own with only water pressure. If it is, the dishes in your bottom rack WILL come clean unless.........there is something in your loading that hangs down or presses down and prevents the arm from rotating during the wash. I know this is a nuisance, but I'll bet you'll learn a lot in a short time. And I'm betting you'll be back in business. In any event, please come back and tell us what found....See MoreAnyone have the dishwasher with 3rd rack?
Comments (42)I have a Miele with the third rack at the top for cutlery - and love it. It took some training of the family, but they are finally starting to get it. It also took a little getting used to on my part as far the sequence when I am loading - at first, I had to keep switching racks, going back and forth, but I think that was a little bit of a learning curve that you would have with any new appliance. As far as being fussy about loading the cutlery, it does take a moment extra, but if you load your stuff in zones - all the small forks together, all the knives, etc... it makes emptying the diswasher a breeze!!...See MoreBosh 500 dishwasher 3rd rack won't come out
Comments (32)Our new Frigidaire Professional series was also delivered damaged. We couldn't see that with all the insulation wrapped around it, but we couldn't get the third rack on top out as the spray blade was jammed into the rack from being pushed in/down. The people we purchased from (a national seller that only deals with appliances) was useless and accused us of lying about a damaged product. After fighting with them, we gave up and called frigidaire direct. SUPER nice. They sent a tech out and it was deemed unrepairable. They have offered us a buyback. It is in process. Tech said it was definitely stacked in a warehouse....See Moremtnfever (9b AZ/HZ 11)
