Range Hood Insert Recommendation
Comments (5)Here is the closest thing I know of. There are a lot more details that will be needed before you can order anything. This one is a little over budget, but I am not sure you will find one in budget. Maybe someone else will have some better info. Comments (9)@TxMomma really appreciate the insight. I will have a 36” wide Wolf range, so I need the 42” wide vent insert and that one has the 1200 CFM capability. But I doubt I’ll ever need to use it on that setting and my contractor assured me that my space is large enough with sufficient ventilation so that makeup air wouldn’t be an issue for me. I also found vent-a-hood much more expensive and my appliance person highly recommended the Zephyr brand and the Monsoon II in particular because of its depth and also the LED lighting in the front and back of the insert. Sounds like such a nice practical feature. Would love to hear how it sounds/works once you have the chance to test it out. Thanks...See MoreRange hood insert recommendation
Comments (4)OK, let's get a tad technical. According to measurements on a gas range* the plume spreading angle is about 7 degrees. We will want to imagine this spreading angle (relative to vertical) applies to every point on the edges of the largest pans one would use on each of the available burners. This locus of pan contours would then be expanded by the height to the hood entry aperture times the tangent of 7 degrees (0.12). This applies to front and sides of a wall hood configuration. The rear plume components will reflect into the hood. However, the range back guard must be present as specified by the installation guide if the wall is not non-combustible all the way through, and this will require the hood accommodate the back guard thickness. Angled sheet metal could be used to interface a spaced out hood with the wall. Note that this plume spreading requires the hood aperture to grow with height above the pan. Note also that the driving parameters are not the cooking appliance dimensions we typically use, but the burner layout and pan size dimensions. Note that hood entry aperture does not include light bars and such at the front edge, although some benefit corresponding to increased size will be present. Determining hood entry aperture for a particular range and pan array is left as an exercise for the student. _______ *Risto Kosonen, Hannu Koskela, Pekka Saarinen, Thermal plumes of kitchen appliances: Cooking mode, accepted 10 January 2006, Energy and Buildings....See Morewhat are your brand recommendations for a vent hood insert?
Comments (3)You probably looking at 900-1200 CFM they usually run anywhere between 2-11k. depending on the style. Make sure you have a makeup air provided for that size of a vent. Most brands I used were Wolf or Vent A Hood Designer Series hoods... Take a look at model PRH18454SS by Vent a Hood Designer series it's reasonably priced and it's a more basic model for that size and you can find one @ around 2k. Good luck...See Moreabates
