This thread IS about gardening :)
Comments (10)Yes, Marcia the pond is new, started it this spring. I was somewhat holding back on the landscaping around it because most of July was just too darned hot to work in! Thankfully we had cooler temperatures this past week, so I could actually move some rock around without getting heat stroke! The good thing about the tours, is that it gave me the kick in the pants that I needed to get more done than I had ever imagined! You're wise to limit the number of projects beore next summer. Depending on the size of pond you would want to put in, I think a pond is an all summer project. Mind you, I did start out with a tiny one to see if I would enjoy it. It was just half of a rain barrel that I faux finished on the outside with concrete. So a small water feature would definately be do-able for your time line, but I don't want to add anymore to your list ;) Tabardca, I'll try to get some pix of the patio later today. I'm a bit hesitant to post them yet, as I still haven't planted the thyme between them(yes, I admit, I'm a bit of a perfectionist!). I want to make sure the grass is good and dead before I plant. Comments (132)I have a lot of copycats in my family, they do everything we do, we purchased a new car like 4-5 years ago and a lot of people in my family went and purchased new cars, we have a projector/movie theater/family room and a 100in screen, they want to copy our movie theater idea, my neighbors as soon as they saw we purchased brand new stainless steel appliances, they went and purchased brand new appliances, they are lucky my husband and i love them and see them like family hahaha! Now this one is on another level, i really got mad over the following events: When i got engaged 6 years ago (I have been married for 5 years already) they all went and purchased similar rings to mine, and a girl that DH and i know COPIED my ring, YES, MY RING, SAME EXACT RING!!!! I was so upset!!!!...See MorePlease brag
Comments (36)I have been using the FlyLady system and finding that the more I do my basic daily routines the more time I have for other things. For the past couple of weeks I've been doing a lot of purging and reorganizing. I went through and purged countless papers in DH's office as well as my own. We bought a bookcase yesterday and I spent a lot of time yesterday reorganizing my office and loading up the new bookcase with books. Today I reorganized 3 kitchen drawers, put a couple new organizers in. I unpacked 3 boxes just today (we moved here about 18 months ago, still haven't settled in totally due partially to the renovations we've been doing). I did more organizing and purging in my office today, got rid of old catalogues and magazines, reorganized drawers and cupboards, and now have empty storage space!!! DH built a bench seat for the kitchen for storage, hung a floating shelf in the kitchen, and a shelf for my chef statue. I find that once the purging is done and you have created suitable storage space for the things you use and love, the room really comes together as part of a lovely home! The problem is, DH wants to build everything, so in the meantime I have to make the best of the storage spaces I have, but every little bit helps! I find nothing makes me feel better than having a room that is clean, decluttered, and organized. If you're feeling uninspired try cleaning out a drawer, or buying a little storage shelf unit that you need, and sort through your things and display what you love and get rid of everything else! The feeling is contagious, it is sometimes hard to stop once you get going, which is why I need the Flylady system so much, 15 min. baby steps will get you there, so you still have time for the daily routines that keep your mind at peace!...See MoreDecor on a Shoestring-Upholstered Furniture from "other places"
Comments (50)arcy-when we spoke of a variety of foul creatures, i thought instantly of big bang! lol so to be safe lets add - bring broom stick pound down all furnishings before moving. lol mamap - at one time i would have believed you, but my experience proved that was not so. It was,as so often is, a warm florida afternoon when i was trying on the lovely cashmere sweater. I know that noone touched me, it was not 5 minutes , before the next sweater, that i was itching like mad. I thought it was because the clothes were making me hot, sweaty, and itchy. don't know why it stood out so in my brain but it does. oh that couch reminds me of a lovely high back bench i have. it is walnut - i had never seen that wood before, and i bought for $5 straight off the neighbor's porch. with the bird poop and horse hair included. i adore it....See Moreaprilneverends
