Is this foyer table too big?

Hello

I just bought this table and want to know if tIt looks too big for the space? I haven't really decorated it. Just put the pieces on it to see what it looks like. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. The length of the curved wall is 7 feet. The table is 40 inches in diameter and the door opening to the kitchen is 3 feet wide and the table does not impede the walking lane.

No........ but you need a Substantial REAL lamp, ( or real floral ) some art on the wall, and I think the base molding would benefit from paint. (Uhhhh... actually all that oak trim is fighting your paint color a bit ). A full and FLUFFY real plant tucked under may also help ground it a bit.

This is ONE place a tailored skirted table works extremely well. ....... great hiding spot to boot. underneath : )

No. The size is okay. However, I'm not sure I like the round shape with the curved wall on the staircase. I agree with Jan that it needs more decorating on it and around it. What about a smaller table with occasional chair?

We have this exact light in our foyer. Out of the box it seems huge. Our foyer dimensions are 11 feet 3 inches in length by 6 feet 8 inches wide, however, the foyer is open on 2 sides to other rooms. The foyer ceiling is vaulted with the peak at 17 feet. We love this large light as it is a good size for the space and can be seen outside the large transom over the 8 foot entry door. However, for your ceiling height you might consider the next smaller size. Good luck in your selection. bgj

I think it's hard to tell because it appears that the second picture with the larger fixture was also taken closer up so it's not an easy comparison to make. Can you take another picture from the same vantage point?

Funny the first pic made the light look soo off center. Anyways. You definitely should make a template on the floor and see. I love the style choice of The table you like. Really pretty. And I love how the room looks so far.

I personally think it's too dark and heavy looking for that space. It looks like something you stuck there that was bought to fit in another house. I'm interested to see how Jan's ideas fix it.

I agree that it's too dark and heavy looking, I'd pull it out from the wall a bit and cover it with a floor length cloth to look like a center hall colonial table and put one tall piece in the center.

There is no room to pull it out to center, and actually a round is a perfect shape for that stair location. It is dark....but it suffers from a lack of scaled accessories, and some softness, be that a live and lush plant below of some size....

Finish what you begin.......: )

Or return and get a 36 inch /table/glass and a cloth ..: ) Ivory or natural on Ballard Designs and 239.00 all in., all three pieces

The size and shape are perfect for that spot, but I agree that the black finish is too harsh and that it needs a lamp on it.

i agree about painting the baseboard. don't really like the skirt option as I think it's a bit heavy for your space. here are some pics w/round tables so you can see the difference from what you have.

notice these pics w/the dark tables, all have the dark flooring so you don't get that harsh contrast. you may do better w/a lighter wood table or one topped w/marble

Paint it ivory to blend with rug and carpet and it would give you less contrast and maybe more of a blending in ....I do like it though, just not the color as it relates to nothing and instead of looking planned into the design, it looks like a table for sale in a store....

To me it looks too clunky and heavy, and the color doesn't go with the baseboard and stair rails. I don't care for a cloth over it either; it just looks too contrived for that area.

I'm looking at it again and it doesn't seem so bad, except that the color should be lighter. The same table with the very large white flower arrangement looks simple and yet dramatic. A large piece of art on the opposite wall would be lovely to furnish this area more.

HI -- I think it will be perfect as soon as your finished dressing it . Yes , it seems a little to dark all by it self there but as soon as you put other things with it , then it should work . Maybe a painting or mirror on the wall with an equally dark frame and then big light colored items such as a lamp or a big vase with some (fake is fine ) white orchids or some sparkle from silver items . Try a sheer fabric cloth ( wedding dress fabric ) over the table and onto the floor , to mute the dark and it would look romantic and different. Make sure it has a weighted hem so it hangs nicely .

It looks too heavy next to the delicate stair rails to me. I probably would not have chosen such a dark color either, but accessories may tone it down.
