Salvia Exchange

Help identify this salvia

It's almost 6 foot tall this year! I would like to propagate it but don't know if it's true to seed. Should I divide rhizome or take cuttings? Really enjoy this huge salvia! Thinking of planting it in tomato cages next year for support. Heavy rains and winds tend to lay it down.

I don't know the variety, so I don't know if it will come true from seed, but I know cuttings will root easily, even in water. :-)

and salvias don't grow from rhizomes... they are just plants with roots.

Really not sure about this! Could you send a photo of the whole plant, and the foliage? Flowers look like the Turkish Salvia aucheri, also a bit like Salvia africana....but the leaves don't seem to match! You could check my site www.robinssalvias.com

The leaves don't look like S. guaranitica to me, more like a broader version of farinacea as far as texture and edges, but I am not seeing it in person, obviously. (I have grown both species as annuals or wintered over potted plants, though neither is garden hardy here.) But the leaves are why I wondered if it might be a hybrid. Hopefully someone else with a broader experience with Salvias will have more solid suggestions.
