Wow, after doing more research and a search on the forum about trilliums, I feel awful that I dislike them so much! It seems like some really treasure them. My husband's cousin even offered to come and take them. I will definitely come here first before I start complaining about what I have in my garden. My flower bed is overtaken with some plants that, again, I have no idea what they are. I'll be back with more pictures!

A subject near and dear to my heart. I must have pulled up a hundred yards of morning glory roots and sprayed a couple of gallons of Roundup, to no effect. Glyphosate will kill the foliage, but the concentrations of it in ordinary Roundup just seem to stimulate the root systems (individual underground runners, half again as thick as a pencil, can be well over 20 ft long.) The Roundup you buy by the gallon off the shelf at Home Depot contains 2% glyphosate. You can get a more concentrated form which contains 48% glyphosate. If you research this a bit, you will come across suggestions that you soak the root end of morning glory in this Satan water for an extended period. My battle plan (soon as I get around to it) is to cut and scrape a root end, tie a large cotton swab around it, drench it with the 48% solution, and seal it off with a piece of plastic and a rubber band. Oh, and it also springs up all over the place through seeding.

Thanks. I think it is a caterpillar too. I'm located in Houston, TX. I think we're going to try some BT and see how it goes. We've done our best to just remove them by hand but after finding 2 the first day and 5 the second day, we're not sure we can get them all.

It is very etiolated plant...all succulents (cacti are succulents too) need good drainage and good light exposure = that means lots of sunlight (hours a day) for most of them. If they do not have adequate light, they grow in shape very different than plant should have, with weak stems, often very pale color. All thin growth of your plant happened under poor light; it should be more-or-less same thickness as the thickest par, all over. In simple words - chubbier and shorter :)
