Curtains mounted inside the window frame, extending longer than frame

I have a natural wood window frame, with a new curtain mounted inside the frame, using the previous shade's hardware.

My question is: should the curtain definitively end inside the box of the window frame? Or have other people experimented with a style of mounting the curtain inside the frame, but letting the bottom of the curtain fall well beyond the frame in length? I'm wondering if it would make the window look less "boxy" and give a cool effect. Sort of, "coloring outside the lines" so to speak.

What do folks think about this look?

Thanks!

PS Sorry my pictures aren't the best :)
