Day 21 - My House in August: Light It Up
Comments (21)That's a good idea, Cyn! I have a lamp shop that I've used for years, but never thought to ask them if they know of a person who could make me a new shade using my original frame. I've just looked for replacement shades there, and had my lamps repaired. Thank you for that suggestion. I'm going to call them tomorrow! Speaking of my lamp place, about 20 years ago I had them create this lamp (below) as a surprise Father's Day gift for DH. I found the statue of St. Roc, the patron saint of physicians, in an antique shop. As DH is a physician, I thought it would make the perfect gift for him. (Sigh) He was not as thrilled as I'd hoped he would be, to say the least. Being raised Catholic, I've been around saint stories my entire life. But, DH, who was raised Southern Baptist, was not. To him, it just looked like an old man, hoisting up his robe to point at a cut on his leg. Not! But, over the years, living here in New Mexico and with a Catholic wife, he's come around a bit. St. Roc is proudly displayed on the buffet in our dining room. And, I still love him!...See MoreDay 22 - My House in August: Chair
Comments (25)Sorry about the position of the darned chair, I have been dealing with a roof leak and the water is coming in through the chimney, under the fireplace tile and then under the carpet. I have been moving the chair and tables, checking under the carpet during the day. No fun. i really like this chair. I like the cushion even more. Give me texture every time :) I don't have any sentimental chairs, unfortunately. I left most everything I owned in California when I moved to SC ten months ago. My sentimental chairs are in Ireland and won't come to me until after my parents pass. I hope that won't be anytime soon....See MoreDay 24 - My House in August: Vase
Comments (24)aaaaaaahhhh it's gorgeous!!!!! I love all of these so much! I'm very much into vases and all sorts of vessels recently(I think I know why lol)..unfortunately all the bigger ones are nothing to write home about..they're simple glass things from TJ Maxx etc. all that I have and really love and chose myself-are small ceramic things purchased in galleries, art festivals etc..I use them for small succulents and such.. and even these I can't show right now since I don't have any camera:) will have to wait until DS comes home from school.. yours are amazing, I don't know where to start..just beautiful. some pottery, I do recognize.. am afraid to guess wrong the names right now , but I do collect them, albeit virtually and in my dreams..))...See MoreDay 30 - My House in August: White
Comments (20)What's white in my house? The tub, the toilets, some dishes bought specifically for food photography, a few t-shirts. Also a few white ceramics but I am not at home to take pics atm. And this lovely rose of Sharon, planted this spring as a foundation plant in the front (ignore the weed-killing cardboard to the left): Regards some of the white dishes:...See MoreSister Sunnie
