Comments (3)WELL...last night someone on name that plant forum indicated that it was called Yellowrocket, which led to finding that it is probably a very close relative of Yellowrocket: Wild Radish. Whis is a very close relative to Wild Mustard :-) The only reason it can't be Yellowrocket is because the stems and leaves have tiny hairs, which indicates it is Wild Radish. However. I have seen pics of Wild Radish now on Google Images that don't look like this plant, and some that show Yellowrocket looking dead-on accurate, save for the leaves. Ha. At any rate, I'm pulling them up...tis' not to be... Thanks so much for your help, timbu and fammsimm. Now I am also familiar with two other kinds of weeds, so if I spot them, I'll know right away :-) Joanna...See MoreWildflower or Weed ID? - silvery green leaves
Comments (6)A "weed" is simply any plant growing where you do not want it, and most of what we call "wild flowers" can be "weeds". It does look very much like "Chenopodium" (that is the latin which should always be italicized or in quotes) or commonly goosefoot, lambs quarters, pigweed, and some others. A "weed"? I know people that grow this as a green manure crop and others that spend a ton of money each year spraying it to eradicate it. I have not seen any kind of flower, attractive or not, on this plant....See MorePlease ID: 2 fall wildflowers/weeds
Comments (3)You are in a very different climate, but it looks very similar to a weed we call gumweed. It gets the name because the leaves, stems, and flowers are covered in a sticky, rosin-like substance. The plant is perennial, grows a numbers of stems which get quite woody by the end of the season. Due to the rosin, livestock don't care to eat it unless goats would. It is also hard to kill in a pasture setting without killing the pasture....See Moredeanna in ME Barely zone 6a, more like 5b
