1 is tricky because unfortunately it is not clear which leaves go with the flowers. 2. Appears to be Melilotus officinalis, ribbed melilot 3. Possibly a sow thistle Sonchus sp. Maybe S. arvensis 4. Again very hard to id from the pic but looks like Trifolium campestre, hop trefoil. 5. Vicia cracca, tufted vetch If the ids are correct these are likely to be weeds of cultivation in the US as they are all European natives.

I think #1 is a type of Ladies Thumb. White, insignificant flowers in a cluster... #2 is a Deptford Pink. Nice, delicate...will pop up wherever. #3 is Partridgeberry. #4 is Asiatic Dayflower. All four of these are "wildflowers," or "weeds," depending on who is looking at them! I would pull up #1...not much to look at. I have #2, and leave them in my garden...they are briefly pretty--don't do well as a cut flower, though. Some people pay money for #3--I think it's a pretty little groundcover. #4, well, that's up to you. I'm not sure how invasive they get...if they are taking up prime garden real estate, I'd yank 'em! Okay, upon further reflection and after reviewing my plants of the rocky mountains book, I agree. You all are right, it is a Hackelia floribunda. Rosie, I was thinking that it could also have been a Hackelia micrantha too but have ruled that one out now. The axillary flowers on mine are tiny without a pedicel so I was thinking it might not be the Hf, but, they are new and will probably develop pedicels as they grow. Plus, mine are so much greener and healthier looking than the photos of the ones in the wild. Well, duh, mine are smack in the middle of my flower bed, my ammended, watered, cared for flower bed. I also found no other mention of any part of the plant being poisonous so I may relocated them after all. Not sure they'll take, they are listed as either biennial or perennial so I'm hoping they are perennial. Well, that was fun, thank you all for the help with identifying and for the links! Jennifer
