I so need a printer for an iPad mini. Bought a Canon and after many hours it will not work. Any help much appreciated!

Leslie, what are the models of your IPad mini and Canon printer? I'll be happy to help you research but need more info. Have you gone online to Apple Support with your problem? This link is to Apple Communities.

I agree with lindsey, all devices and brands run down when unused. Judging from the display of percent of battery capacity remaining, our ipad mini seems to be able to sleep (not off) for several days without losing or using any part of its charge. But much longer than that is a different story

The "hard reboot" as Plllog describes it only serves to completely power off the iPad. It doesn't "release" or "reset" anything. Try simultaneously holding down the power button on the top while pressing down on the home button. Keep holding both for about 20 seconds or so and the iPad will reset itself. Don't worry, you won't lose anything you have on it. It just resets the system. But, there is something else to check first... On the side of the iPad, just above the volume up button, there is another, tiny little round button that can be pushed up, or down, depending on its current position. The default for this button (the purpose of which can be changed in Settings) is that it acts as a MUTE button. Change its position and then check to see if you can change the volume.

I think what's happening here is that Leslie is looking for a "handheld" label printer which generally have a keyboard, small display, and are capable of printing directly from the machine. Brother P-touch:Dymo LabelManager: What both acraftylady and I suggested were dedicated label printers that require a computer, tablet, or smartphone to create the label and send it to the printer. Epson LW-600P Brother QL-810W Some of the "handheld" units (Dymo, P-touch) also have the ability to print from desktop software, which could certainly be easier than trying to type on a tiny keyboard. Near as I can tell, all require a USB connection to the computer. Obviously an iPad doesn't have a USB port and I think that's where Leslie is running into trouble. I think Leslie's options are to give up on using her iPad to print to a "handheld" label maker or invest in one of the "dedicated" label printers.

After spending way too much time and talking to apple and canon support this printer is going back!

Shouldn't any wireless printer work? Be sure you have Bluetooth turned on.

Having Bluetooth turned on is only required if the printer has Bluetooth too.

What we don't know in all of this is what Canon printer the OP purchased. Some printers today have AirPrint which allows Apple devices to print directly to the printer but not all do.

Blue tooth was on, and it was an air printer, I spent quite a bit of time with canon and apple support. Neither could get it to work so it went back. I got an HP instead and had it set up in 15 minutes! Thanks for responding everyone.

Just a comment from my history of Canon/android. I used to print wireless with phone to iPad. It did take a long phone call to get printer set up. Then I moved and do not have internet. I could not get printer to work so called Canon. You must have internet to 'print wireless'. No cord, but must have internet- not just data on phone. This may not apply to you. I miss my printer!

Even Canon could not get it to work, I wasted hours with that printer! HP worked fast, not one problem!
