Clorox bleach pen; Mr. Clean eraser-revisited
Comments (56)Mr. Clean eraser is incredible. What won't it do? My husband was cleaning his boat (fiberglass hull) and it had scuff marks along the sides and on the floor. He tried brush and soap, a nylon scrubbie and was planning to get steel wool when I stopped him and told him to use my Mr. Clean eraser. He scoffed and said these marks were so stubborn that a "sponge" will do nothing. I insisted he try it and they were EASILY removed! It took him just a minute or two remove all the scuffs, and he had been laboring for nearly an hour with the other items. He was amazed! I have several on hand at all times for shower doors, scuff marks on floors, baseboards and walls. I also used it to remove specks of dried paint from woodwork. Use a light hand though, because it will remove the finish if you are over zealous....See MoreWill marker seep through new wall paint?
Comments (9)Well, we've got it painted, and it's looking pretty good. We used Glidden Evermore, and I must say I was disappointed. We used Behr something-or-other (the stuff Home Depot sells) in Satin in the other bedroom, and had much better results. The Glidden was much more watery, seeped under the painstaking masking job, and took a lot more paint (and touchups!). And, to top it all off, this low-voc/low-odor paint still smells after two weeks, whereas the Behr was fine after about four days. (And that's to my highly sensitive pregnancy nose.) So, thanks so much for all of your advice and help--I'm thinking I was worried more than I should have been, though. DH went ahead and spot covered the marker places (with the white semi-gloss for the trim, ack!) and painted before I knew what he was doing, and it looks just fine. No marker seep through, and no flashing, so I'm hoping we're good to go. (I got 95% of it off, too.) Thanks again!...See MoreWhat product used by many has 90 - 95% of its useful part thrown away?
Comments (15)I use pencils every day to write down notes, lists, reminders. I like a nice sharp point too. There are a lot of bad pencils out there which don't sharpen well. You can waste a lot with that first sharpening in an electric machine. I think Ticonderoga is one of the better ones. Of course students still use pencils in school!...See MoreHELP magic eraser on wood floors!!
Comments (10)The finish looks like it is still intact (to some extent). The scratch and the attempted repair have NOT gotten past the stain. That's a GOOD thing. Your floor looks to be a nice satin. So long as your repair person has the SAME product used on your floor in the first place, you should get a decent finish patch. Of course the sheen is going to be a little different...because one will be 2 months old and the new stuff = 1 day old...but that cannot be avoided. So long as the wood is protected by the polyurethane (the finish) you are going to be OK. The next time a scratch occurs you will want to use a stain pen (if it penetrates to the raw blonde wood) or a finish pen (a little bit of polyurethane in a pen-like applicator). It will keep you sane and maintain your bank balance. And please use the magic eraser on metal or tile...that's the only place it should be used. A magic eraser is a HIGH GRIT sand paper. I know you know that. I just thought it was worth repeating in case someone else is reading this....See Morehooked123
