Will marker seep through new wall paint?

We're about to paint the kids' rooms, and I've been scrubbing at some *ahem* "washable" marker that my artistic 6yo daughter thought would be a beautiful addition to her decor. I have most of the color off, but there's still some that doesn't seem to want to come out. Neither scrubbing with soap and water nor magic erasers seem to have any more effect. We'll be using Glidden Evermore Satin. (More washable than the flat builder white! Argh.)

Will the marker (now light brown and light blue) work its way up through the new paint to haunt us again, or should it stay put underneath? Ditto that question for ball-point pen ink. I know that a sealing primer would keep it under there, but I really don't want to add an extra layer (and extra time and fumes) to the project.

Alternately, does anyone have any more ideas for getting that treacherous marker off the wall?
