somonica, The G2120 was 25% off as well. I believe the discount applies for all of their 2008 models. I actually had to get them to send another technician today. After we ran the first cycle yesterday, the machine gave an error. Strangely, when the technician got here today, it was working fine. He speculated that the pump was probably not moving fluidly enough and just needed some time to loosen up. Both technicians were very courteous and willing to answer all of my questions. The guy today was even willing to wait for an extra 20 minutes just to make sure that the machine didn't throw another error code. No complaints on my end at all. The machine ran fine, and the dishes are clean.

What you (and fauguy) say in point 3) may be true for newer Miele dishwashers, but mine specifically says to not use the side mounting screws at all if the opening is wider than the recommended 23-5/8", because of leakage concerns (from bending/separating?). Maybe the new models are stiffer there, but I think I would add shims at least where the screws go, to bring the width down to 23-5/8"

We bought a Miele Lumen dishwasher a couple years ago and have had nothing but problems from the time it was installed. The dishes don’t get clean. I have tried all their “suggestions” and several different soaps. A tech came out a few times but nothing changed. As a last-ditch effort, I recently decided to try it on the “sanitize” cycle and that worked finally. The part I hate about this is that it is a 2 hour and 50-minute cycle!!!! So much for saving on electricity. On their website it says “Save up to 50% on electricity. All Miele Dishwashers can be connected to a hot water connection at a temperature of up to 150°F. This reduces electricity consumption by up to 50% and running times by up to 10%. In the Economy program, the energy consumption of the dishwasher drops to as little as 0.45 kWh.” If I ran it on economy my dishes would be so dirty! The dishwasher also condensates or leaks water under my cabinet and drips onto the floor leaving a puddle. Not to mention it drips on the electronic panel. I imagine there is a failure waiting to happen there. On the same side it drips it also build up all the gunk on the inside of the door panel. It is weird and I have no clue how this is happening. I keep cleaning it off and the next day it is back again after a cycle of dishes. I have pictures and video of everything I am explaining. Lastly, I have a horrible rattle when the dishwasher first starts. We had a working KitchenAid before we thought we were “upgrading” to a Miele. We now wish we had never got rid of the KitchenAid. We have a Miele vacuum and have been happy. Miele is supposed to be the best of the best. Sad to say that after our experience with the dish washer we will never buy a Miele product again. To say I hate this dishwasher is an understatement! I’m ready to “office space” it! After I wrote a review awhile back a manager had contacted me and had someone come out to try to “fix” it. However, nothing was ever fixed. In fact, after inspecting under my sink recently I have noticed that the water line is connected to the cold water. It should be connected to the hot water, per their website. I have reached out recently but no one has returned my emails/calls.

I installed my Miele Lumen dishwasher last year. And the reason I did, is because I used to sell them and know 1) how great they are and 2) how simplistic they are to install... to a point. The reason I say this is that the installation instructions that come with the machine are basically a quick to guide used by Miele installers, not the general public. To be honest, I did have to do a Google search and look up a couple of videos. But once I did, it was pretty smooth. I would agree that Miele’s website is confusing and atrocious and they know because I’ve told them. Lol I would help my customers all the time with trying to navigate. Just horrid. They did revamp a short time ago, but I haven’t had the need to navigate and cannot comment. All Miele dishwashers come with a 1 year manufactures warranty. The homeowner would receive an additional year, if they have a certified Miele installer to the job, for a total of two years full pars and labor. The warranties are never lost by DIY installation. Miele dishwashers come self contained and all come with a power cord, an inlet hose and drain hose. If you need a hardwired installation, you can remove the plug and hardwire the unit at the bottom front. everything is accessible from the front. I did not have to do this step as I plugged my unit in. I did have to get my Dremmel and make a slightly larger access hole in my cabinet for the drain hose though. One thing to note is that you must make sure you have a high loop on the drain hose for proper function. This means that the hose must Look like an inverted letter “u” under your sink. I bought a hook and just placed it so it would hold. Easy. The dishwasher will come with a flat shiny piece of stainless. Most will think this is the kick plate. This is not for that use. It is actually used to shield the underneath front edge of your counter to protect it from the steam when the dishwasher pops open to dry. Miele will give you tiny brad nails (if needed) and silicone to seal and attach. This is the first step prior to installing the machine. Next, you slide the dishwasher in place minding the cord and hoses. You level the rear legs of the machine by turning screws located on the front bottom. You turn the front feet to level those, making sure the machine is level side to side and front to back. Then secure to counter and side walls with included hardware. I then had to place my front panel onto the machine as the model I purchased was panel ready. I then turned two screws on either side of the door front to adjust the door hinges. The hardest part was having to cut the European 6” height kick plate (black plastic piece) to a 4” US height with my Dremmel and attaching. It was super precarious. That took me the longest believe it or not. Have a box of salt at the ready, along with Rinse Aid and either a tablet or powder detergent, as you have to run the machine once before use. Liquid detergents do not work well at all. I use the Miele dishwasher tabs as they breakdown quicker and get to washing faster. They are meant for you to get the most out of your machine. I will say that improper installations on any branded machine, account for the majority of dishwasher failures. However, if you read the directions and watch a few videos, your Miele will give you 20 years. This is why I own one. And it is so quiet, the first time I ran it (38 dB) I thought it wasn’t working. But it was! My dishes and utensils always come out sparking. If you are really nervous about installation, then I would have a certified Miele tech do the job. I managed and installed it properly.
