Paint color for walk-in closet
Comments (7)White (a bright white) might be boring, but it's really the best color because it helps your eye gauge your clothes colors. Put 2 navy blues against white and you can quickly see which is "navier" (all navy blues are not the same, nor are all blacks). Plus, once your clothes and shoes and other stuff are in place, those will be colors you see, not the white walls. Once you paint it a non-white color, you will always return to this subject whenever you repaint the bedroom color. So save yourself some time and effort. (Also, how big is the walk-in? I've seen some not-movie-star-size walk-ins in which the owner hung art high on a wall)...See Morewhat color to paint inside of closets
Comments (9)My closets always have been and always will be creamy white. It just makes it easier for me to see things in there. I tend to use color with some body to it on walls in rooms, and carrying some of those into the adjoining closet could get kinda funky ;) I say that because I've noticed paint can cast reflective color, some more pronounced than others. Along the reasoning that we are careful about color/lighting in a bathroom so our complexions don't take on a greenish cast in the mirror, it seems to follow clothes in closets could also take on reflections from the walls and distort a bit. A scenario like that could get someone like my DH, who's eyes have trouble discerning subtle colors, in trouble. ('your mama dresses you funny' comes to mind ;D All that aside, I truly believe it's just a matter of personal taste. As far as sheen, I've always stuck with eggshell. Less glare that higher gloss levels, and easy wipe of the occasional scuff from tired feet kicking off shoes or stuff getting shuffled around on shelves....See MoreWould you paint closet door wall color?
Comments (24)Silver, I agree about the effect of glossy versus flat. I guess I think of a white room with white closets. I did a google images search for those, because in my mind that is the same as beige walls with beige closets, or blue walls with blue closets. To me, when the doors have that much detail, painting them out doesnÂt make them disappear, because in being the same color as the walls but with such a different surface texture, they still stand out - only now it looks like one is trying to hide them and not succeeding. But, and I firmly believe this and say it all the time, it is YOUR space. You should do what works for YOU. There is no right or wrong, just choices and personal taste. So, if painting the door and trim in the wall color will make the room work better for you, then you should do it! Maybe what you should do, with your talent, is paint small paintings on canvas (perhaps a series of floral studies or nature studies) and apply those to the panels in the door( or paint directly on the door, I guess, but then you canÂt remove them and sell them), paint out the surrounding door to look like a darker frame, and create a great focal point!...See MorePaint Color for Closets & Bathrooms
Comments (10)In recent years I've started doing what Karen and Jennifer do-- painting the closets the same white as our trim color (or similar clean white). It has the advantage of making it easier to change the room color without having to necessarily re-paint the closet, and I prefer to see clothes against white than against a color. As for bathrooms (or any rooms with a clear separation from hallways/open areas), I think it's nice to add a little change in color, but if you prefer a cleaner, simpler palette, then stick with your Paper White. I like a little change in mood from room to room, but to each his own. Changing color doesn't have to be drastic....See Morepalimpsest
