var. rubber tree (ficus) omg!!! gnats, mushrooms & burn!! help!!!
Comments (2)It's being kept too wet all the time - water well, but only once some of the soil has dried out, and the soil should really be quite gritty, and not mostly 'potting' as it's full of peat and never dries out (beyond the top layer). Also, good air circulation is important, so an airy room, not necessarily intensely bright, is better than too much heat and constant watering....See MoreLeggy rubber tree... Should I prune? Comments (1)I'm confused by the wording of some of your sentences/questions. I'm not sure if there's a propagation link to your inquiry or not, but you might want to try the House Plants Forum, linked below. Comments (3)Roots look like they might have some rot- was this the case? Is the plant kept in a well ventilated location? Repotting was a good Idea. What did you pot it in? These are pretty hardy plants, it should bounce back. As to best potting soil, well LOLOLOLOL...…… some prefer gritty mix some simply use commercial potting soil. Mine is in Miracle Grow to which I have added perlite. There are lots of discussions on this type plant on both the houseplant and container forums. Look for the post on trimming Rubber trees ( don't remember the exact post, sorry) as it is filled with good information. General care: Bright indirect light to dappled sun. Moist soil but never a swamp, allow the soil to dry slightly in between watering- slightly less water in winter. Temperature: average room temperature, it will appreciate 70-80. Keep out of cold drafts. Air should be well ventilated though, not a stagnant corner....See Moremy rubber plant is sick please help....
Comments (3)welcome ... its been thru a lot of stress ... grower to seller.. to your place.. then the watering ... why dont you leave it alone for while.. and let it settle down and see what develops ... repotting it.. or worse.. dividing the plants out will just be one more giant stress .... lets let it settle down before we contemplate that ... on some level.. you are loving it to death .... lets try to back off that ... let it near dry before you water again... you should be able to tell by the pot weight when that is ... if not sticking your finger in the media ... i would probably look into propagating cuttings before i would tear it apart ... from the pix.. i dont understand if its by a window.. or in the middle of the room .. maybe you moved it for the pic ... but im not sure it will get enough light through the shear drapes ... give us some more info on that ... ken...See Morethis_nic
