I'm so excited - I think this is going to work out!! When I found the fabric I asked to have it cut right away and as the lady was doing it I said that I usually have to take a bunch of swatches home..... Her comment was life is too short to make yourself crazy over fabric. I should stencil that on my walls! Or tattoo it on my forehead. Here's the chair I found on CL for $20. (BTW - could have bought 4 - kind of kicking myself but don't know what I'd do with them anyway) I want to paint it - hate to do more black but either that or white. Keith thinks I'm ruining a good chair by painting it - of course! So - black or white? If you remember, the sofabed on the other side of the room is white. And here is the fabric I bought - will use it for the cafe curtain, too. Will do an edge banding in plain black (bought that fabric, too!) for the woven valance and french door shades to pull the 2 parts of the room together. Still thinking Palace white for the walls but that could change.

Beverly, thank you for the sample renders! I lovveee the look of shutters, but I feel that for my dog I need the option to raise the shades up so he has access to look out the window. Also I think the shutters might limit some of the light coming into the space. Definitely will get a similarly sized rug as in your render, and Im also looking into large mirrors for the fireplace! I also like the light affixed to the wall which saves floor space. As for window treatments, I am now leaning towards the top down bottom up someone else suggested. I noticed there’s a day / night type— anyone recommend that? Is there a certain brand that’s better but doesn’t break the bank? Any brands or type that offer more privacy or without having to get blackout? If you do drapes, you will need to keep them within that deep frame so the baseboard heat doesn't get trapped under them. The hems would stop at the sill. Or you could do floor length drapes that are kept open all the time. This is to simply trim the window if you feel like shades alone are too plain. I've looked into top-down cellular shades for my large windows and determined that they would be too fussy and hard to keep straight. They break easily. The bigger the window, the more annoying they will be to deal with. Besides, top-down is more like for homes where people are trying to get some privacy from the street, not a problem in your high rise. For you I recommend room darkening roller or honeycomb shades. (or blackout if it's east facing, but otherwise I don't recommend blackout if you don't need it.) Don't get the "pull down" style. Get the ones that can be operated with "continuous loop" cables, or even motorized if you are feeling fancy. If you need to filter the light (like to keep the room cool), some people get two sets of shades -- one opaque, one sheer -- and install the the opaque ones in front. Your frames appear deep enough for that.

Master bedroom with a total of 7 windows, including a bay window area, which makes it a bit tricky. We live in Seattle where sun rises at 5am in the summer, so blackout is a must. In previous house, we had automated cellular motorized blackout shades which worked well. We valued the automatic nature, because otherwise we probably would have lived with blinds permanently down because we don't take the time to open them every morning. but automated shades for each window feels too expensive and not very practical with 7 windows. I am wondering if floor to ceiling blackout curtains on a ceiling track (ideally motorized and automated) would work well for the long wall. This would mean cutting out the bay window area w the curtains. 1 downside is it would be inconvenient because we will eventually put a loveseat there to watch TV sometimes. How would you do window treatments in this room to achieve automated blackout light control? Cellular shades vs curtains? Any other option we should consider?
